Forums - Sony - The order's 1886 first review 7,5/10

Hmm. Not too far of from where I thought. 7.5 isn't a bad score in my book, and tells me the game play is clearly good to overcome the listed cons. But no doubt we'll have a circus as more reviews come in with some demanding it's too high and others that it's too low.

you're going to be really disappointed.

That is bummer. Still, if the rest of the games shines, I might turn a blind eye.

exactly, I enjoyed the journey of ME3 and that's what matters.

I once did a troll thread regarding this game bashing it because it had QTE's (mocking people who bashed Ryse for its QTE's as well). People who know me also knows that I love QTE's, and it pains me to actually see The Order being bashed for it.

I hate them because I never memorize the button layout no matter how much I game. Yet it only takes me 8 hours to learn a 200 page book for university and pass the course lol. Funny how the mind works.

You don't want to know how many times I misspressed buttons in MM 3D LOL.

Agreed. The journey is much more important than the destination. Even a bad or unremarkable ending can't make me forget about how much I enjoyed the rest of the game, as a whole.

agree.  However, worth keeping in mind is critics aren't consumers, they are critics.  A critic can't *not* talk about flaws in a game.  Which is where I think the discussion gets muddied sometimes.  You can enjoy a game and the reviewer can enjoy the game and yet, when it comes to criticism, the score can be lowered by noticeable flaws.  And just like with movies, that's ok.  The problem with games like this one that have become the center of so much melodrama is now you're going to have extreme polar reactions to any score given.

These days time concerns are my biggest game purchasing constraint, not cash.

But at the end of the day, even without money being an object, I just can't see myself spending $US65 or so (the cheapest you'll find this in Australia at launch) on such a short experience when longer and as good or better games are recently out and coming out.

I got it pre-ordered from Dick Smith online for $65AUS including shipping :P

I absolutely refuse to take reviews into account for this title. There seems to be some agenda towards it. Never planned on paying full price for it but i'll pick it up eventually.

lol, I knew this game was overhyped. Only the graphics were anything to write home about. A shooter with no MP and a QTE fest. Saw this one coming from a mile away.
