I would have to disagree. Too often has Metacritic counted scores from poor excuses of reviewers. Quarter To Three is a prime example of this. The other problem is that there is the subjectivity on giving a numerical score alone. One person's criteria for an 8/10 may be different from another person's criteria for the same score.


that would be a universal problem. surely you can't think that Eurogamer won't have to be somewhat subjective when rating their games from 'recommended' to the 'indifferent' rating that they apparently now have. the reality is that you can't escape extremely differing opinions. an aggragate rating of thousands of votes from 1-10, from haters and lovers alike, generally balances out fairly reasonably. 

what is annoying to me is that some of you are suggesting that Eurogamer's individual review with this simple system will be anymore accurate than anywhere else. if anything, it'll be based on a primary indviduals opinion on a game and will be LESS reliable (as is any individual game magazine/site's review versus the aggregate). when considering what the mass market average gamer likes that is

I think people around here are relating their dislike for the competition and constant comparisons and negative attitudes regarding games and the rating system. 


Too many.

And no, it has nothing to do with "competition" or "Ps vs Xbox vs Nintendo", most of the games I'm thinking about are actually multiplat. Then there are some exclusives ofc, because they're still games like any other, and being exclusive doesn't change anything.

First of all, just because a bunch of us approve of Eurogamer's different approach doesn't mean we're saying it is more accurate. We like Eurogamer's decision because it encourages reading of the site's reviews rather than scrolling down just to see a number.

The new approach will, in my opinion, open up to better and more constructive criticism. If people complain about how a certain game is reviewed, they will be criticizing the method of the reviewing process rather than how a game is scored because... well there is no score. After all, the heart of the review is the review, not the X/10. Taking out the score helps emphasize that point.

I think it's a cool idea, something different.

Still doesn't change the fact that I fucking despise Eurogamer though. One of the worst sites for click-bait and idiotic articles.
