Forums - Nintendo - The best response i've seen about third party from a Nintendo fan.

The thing is that Nintendo doesn't has the same kind of 'practices' as third parties, ie rampant microtransactions, overpriced DLC (that is already on disc), unfinished games on release, etc

Why does people talk like they are perfect? Overprice DLC? How about their yearly Pokemon game that has two versions that are basically the same but with minor exclusive content for each? The extras of the other version could be a 10 bucks DLC, but instead you have to buy two 40 bucks games to get everything. Isn't this a crappy thing?

And don't say they release "perfectly working" games all times. And the laggy and broken SSB Brawl online mode? And don't get me started with their past broken releases like the entire Virtual Boy and the unforgetable Power Glove.

And all this "3rd parties fear Nintendo games" BS is out of controle. Nintendo basically does 2D/3D platformers, RPGs, kart racing games and a fighting game that is completely different of all the other fighting games. That's almost zero intersection between what they do and the kind of games 3rd parties release. Probably, Lego games are one of the games that are most in shock with Nintendo ones and guess what? It's always on Wii U and 3DS! Do you think that CoD, NFS, GTA, Far Cry, Battlefield and the Elder Scrolls have one, just one, Nintendo game that is slightest similar to be a competitor? It's not like someone goes shopping for a new shooter and comes home with Mario Kart instead.

The biggest mistake those fans made was get mad about a few shitty ports from EA (they do that on all consoles anyway) and Ubisoft delaying Rayman which resulted in boycotts. In the end this ended the way we see it now, devs walked away. I think Ubisoft of them all provided three great games as a gesture for delaying Rayman Legends. But sadly people did not see the postive in it but rather focused to much on the negative.

I don't see these boycotts having the slighest influence in sales. Internet forum rage and real world are miles appart.

I know it's not a conspiracy, but (tinfoil hat on) I do feel there are a lot of people out there who want Nintendo to fail. Just the way they get treated even in gaming press/media, it is like they get shafted no matter what they do. We have some amazing games that are really groundbreaking coming out this year and many are not even covering them. Granted maybe it really is Nintendo not ponying up the funds to get press coverage, but I don't know. (/tinfoil hat on)

This "bias" is not so much a bias as it is a justified animosity towards a company that has always been difficult to work with. Nintendo has an earned poor reputation with 3rd parties to the point that they're either begrudgingly developing for a popular system or contentedly ignoring a flop.

I'd love to see 3rd parties return to Nintendo consoles but it won't happen without Nintendo undergoing a personality change.

I try to buy as many 3rd party titles for Wii U as I can get my hands on. The funny thing is that the ports are not as bad as people like to say they are. Are they perfect? No. I have no illusions about their quality vs the hardware. But if those games are on Wii U I'll usually find a way to buy them.

I've been saying this for a while and I stand by it. Nintendo needs to operate like they will never get a 3rd party port ever again and take action to make up for it. They need to create a team who's sole purpose is to port games to Wii U and whatever future system they make. Nintendo works out a deal with a publisher to have their team port the game, and Nintendo gets most of the profit after the licensing fees are paid to the 3rd party publisher.

Yes, the games will be late coming to Wii U, but with the Nintendo team you know the game will be up to their standards. This will be the most practical way to go about the lack of 3rd party games. Even if it only means an extra couple games for Wii U each year, it will be valuable experience for them going forward.

What overpriced DLC? Their DLC practices for the most part have been some of the best I have seen.

Also, they release two pokemon games to encourage community interactions and trading between people with both games. Nobody is being forced to buy both games, and I have never felt that I was missing out on any meaningful amount of content by only buying one version.

I cannot disagree with this at all. it is quite surprising, really.

The funny thing about this is Japanese 3rd parties treat Nintendo consoles like sh*t.

Worse than the Western third parties that Nintendo fans always try to scapegoat.

What's Konami done for Wii U? Where's Square-Enix? Namco-Bandai, supposedly Nintendo's closest ally, are happy to take contracted projects from Nintendo, but they won't support the Wii U with their own internal IP ... the PS4/X1 get Tekken 7, the Wii U doesn't get a sniff.

Then there's Nintendo "loyal friend" Capcom, all they've given the Wii U is two HD ports of existing 3DS games and nothing else. Couldn't even be bothered to throw the Wii U a bone with a RE REmake port (available for PS3, PS4, X1, X360, PC) or Revelations 2, even though the Vita (Vita! lol) gets a port of it.

Japanese companies treat the Vita better than the Wii U. At least Western companies kinda tried for a couple of years with things like Zombi U, Rayman Legends, Call of Duty: BLOPS2 (best use of the Wiimote pointer in a shooter), Call of Duty: Ghosts, Splinter Cell, Batman: Arkham, Assassin's Creed III/IV, etc

Japan loves Nintendo consoles, handheld consoles that is.  Look at their sales and their game selections.  They're not big on home consoles so don't expect them to love the Wii U.  There are some great third party games like Square even gave them Braverly Default and making a sequel so don't talk like Nintendo's got no love from third party. Moreso than the PS Vita, but again Japan loves all handhelds better than home consoles.

You want to talk about loyalty? Capcom's loyalty?  You mean like how Monster Hunter has been exclusive to Nintendo that greatly increase their sales? or that there were countless Resident Evil games on the DS and 3DS.  Heck I'm still waiting for the Resident Evil Portable game that was coming out for PSP! And that's a Playstation brand where Resident Evil shined/started.

Another example about "loyalty" is Square.  Before PS3, 8/10 of Square's best selling games were on Playstation 1 &2, but when PS3 came out Square did sht for Playstation except give them multiplatforms.  PS3's best hope from Square was FF Versus XIII but look how that turned out.  And cause of shit like this Sony's like fck it lets create some new diverse games to catch everybody's attention.  And that paid off in the end because it seems PS4 is getting more support than PS3 did.

You can talk about loyalty and no love for Wii U, but it happens to all consoles whether you see it or not.  If anything Nintendo is at fault for not doing anything about third party support since N64. 3 to 4 geneartions later and it seems Nintendo is stuborn as ever.

...and at least its looking better than PS Vita.  If you go to ebgames.ca (Canada's Gamestop), there's no more Vita section.

Nintendo needs to create a real relationship with western parties.
The Wii proved their capacity to be the best, but the Wii U to be the worst. And in case of third parties, they are on the worst side.

Nobody is being force to buy DLCs, and they don't pack important content in general. But if you want a DLC, it is much cheaper than buying the game again. The put is as the only choice because a significant amount of people buy both games.
