What overpriced DLC? Their DLC practices for the most part have been some of the best I have seen.
Also, they release two pokemon games to encourage community interactions and trading between people with both games. Nobody is being forced to buy both games, and I have never felt that I was missing out on any meaningful amount of content by only buying one version.
