considering that much more well known Nintendo franchises gave the WiiU next to no boost (MK8 excluded), I doubt this one will raise WiiU to significant heights.
It's coming in May. Last year WiiU did below 30k during the majority of the weeks in that month. Bump will probably be under 10k.
DK Tropical Freeze didn't do more either.

No because our beloved Nintendo is dumb and won't market it as much as MK8.....

This game has the potential to sell a lot and with it systems. If it is marketed well it has a chance. Strange things happen and they go viral. You just can't predict. This game could use a "Luigi Death Stare" moment. I have a feeling that in itself sold thousands of MK8 games and consoles.

I think the game is going to be a lot of fun. I expect it to sell decent enough, but I don't think it will move many systems.

It absolutely will NOT be a system seller at first. No new IP ever is. However, if word of mouth spreads excitement over the game well enough, it could become a system seller later. See Pokémon generation 1. It started with abyssmal sales, but word spread and it grew out of control to be the one Nintendo franchise that can consistently compete with Mario at his best. I don't expect that with Splatoon, but I do expect first week sales to be horrible and look rather like a flop but the legs to grow and eventually sell systems.

coughnopecough Did you see all those Destiny bundles sitting on shelves Black Friday? Destiny was a success, not a system seller.

Yes, I seriously am. System sellers don't just give a temporary boost, they alter the baseline. At best, Destiny affected next gen momentum a bit when it came out, but wasn't a system seller for any one system, and any momentum it caused died when the hype did. System sellers don't stop being system sellers. If every significant boost was a system seller, then Pikmin 3 is a system seller, as was Wii Party U in Japan. Except they're not, because there's more to being a system seller than a first week hardware boost. System sellers are those games that remain a serious selling point for the system down the line.

It's a game that deserves a crap load of sales.. but since Nintendo doesn't do well in advertising and the average consumer still has the mind-planted stereotype thinking Nintendo is for kids, I highly doubt it'll sell well than it should.

After the new information annouced yesterday(my birthday by the way). This even makes me more excited for Splatoon and will DEFINITELY spike WiiU sales. All it needs is good marketing here in the U.S. because the reviews have been fantastic right now.

Here is the info released on Nintendo's website:

I'm still looking at it as a wild card.  No idea how big it will be.  I think it will provide some sort of bump, but how much depends on so many factors.
