Is it too late to claim 100th post?

Same price as handheld games. I think it's reasonable...

The price is too high. Oh well, it won't sell well even if it was $20.

Correct. So then, as a company trying to make money, is the price too high?

Yes, Based on a simple demand and supply model, at $40 the game will sell much less than if it was $20. We already know the game won't sell that much, but at $40, Nintendo are making sure the game doesn't do well.

Ha! You didn't understand what I was trying to say. I was trying to convey the fact that for Nintendo, the $40 pricetag is correct. As you stated earlier, you believed that no matter what the price, the game wasn't going to sell well. That is why Nintendo is pricing it at $40 instead of $20. It would be better to sell 500,000 copies at $40 then 750,000 at $20. If they thought the game would sell 1,500,000 copies at $20, then maybe they would sell it at that price. These numbers are obviously just bogus. Anyway, they are trying to maximize profit, so in their eyes, $40 is not too high.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

When I see people make comments like this, it just makes me wonder, did u forget about Captain Toad?

A ton of people were claiming it was overpriced, looks like a $15 eShop title, and couldn't possibly sell well. Now it's at 500k and with strong legs could sell 1 million. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar scenario with Rainbow Curse.

Yeah...his comment made almost no sense at all. Obviously, if the game was sold at $20 instead of $40, the game would sell more, but he wasn't taking into account the profit that Nintendo needs to make on this game. I would sell a fuckton of cars if I only charged $1, but is that gonna net me more profit than selling them all at $15,000? Hell nah.

Question: has anything been said about the amount of content for this game?

I remember Canvas Curse having a good sized campaign and loads of collectables and post game content.

Add in Amiibo support and multiplayer, as well as a decent size campaign full of collectables and you have yourself a bargain.

If this game was 20$ then they probably would lost money with every copy, you can´t sell a retail game at 20$, is simple, and this game probably deserve this price, Toad was blame to be overpriced and ... OH ... 82 on metacritic and 0.5m the week after its realeased on Europe... So nothing more to say, the game is fine at 40 $.

I haven't followed much with this game, but it seems like it relies heavily on the game pad to just get from point a to point b. I probably won't pick it up regardless if price since I didn't care for Canvas Curse on DS.

It doesn't look as polished as Cpt. Toad, and I can't speak for length, but $40 does seem fair to me. Judging by the direct it has replayabilty in those collectibles though.

The retail release of this will sell like dust :/

Alot of people thought that about Captain Toad, it's over 500k now with a chance of legging it out to 1 million.

I think its all respective, Toad sold exactly how I expected... well below Nintendo's standards for a flagship holiday release. Of course its sales were great for what is was, budget wise.

Having said that I think this game differs from toad in that
-Its not a holiday release, I would say Toad benefitted hugely from being a cheaper holiday purchase and Nintendo's flagship platfomer for the holiday
-Its stylus focused gameplay mechanic will probably deter a lot of traditional Kirby fans (like me). The orginal Canvas Curse wasn't exactly a massive hit either.

I don't doubt it will be profitable or have legs, I just expect its sales to be VERY LOW by Nintendo retail standards.

Was never going to be full price, but glad it is confirmed.

Still unsure about the game. I like the character and art style, but the drawing mechanic to move Kirby around looks like it would be frustrating if not completely accurate.
