I think its all respective, Toad sold exactly how I expected... well below Nintendo's standards for a flagship holiday release. Of course its sales were great for what is was, budget wise.
Having said that I think this game differs from toad in that
-Its not a holiday release, I would say Toad benefitted hugely from being a cheaper holiday purchase and Nintendo's flagship platfomer for the holiday
-Its stylus focused gameplay mechanic will probably deter a lot of traditional Kirby fans (like me). The orginal Canvas Curse wasn't exactly a massive hit either.
I don't doubt it will be profitable or have legs, I just expect its sales to be VERY LOW by Nintendo retail standards.
