If they need more mature-ish games without overloading their library with M rated games, why not Nintendo make more games that are rated for Teens?

actually we do not know the terms of whatever deal was struck. what we do know is that kamiya said on twitter that seeing bayonetta on another console would be like seeing mario and zelda... sega still appears in the credits, yes, but that's probably because they funded the first game. technically they own the ip, but i'm pretty sure after sega pulled a bait-and-switch on platinum with funding for bayonetta 2, nintendo's going to get priority. plus, bayonetta 2 is not selling badly and will end up outselling bayonetta 360 ltd. |
Nintendo has no claim to the series. They don't own the IP. There are no terms outside of using the game as an exclusive. Sega set the terms.

After looking up the cutscenes of the third game and Ascension, I'm glad I didn't. For now, Bayonetta is all I need to satisfy my hack & slash craving, although I may check out the earlier Devil May Cry games eventually. |
I suggest you look up the cut scenes of the first game. Ascension was a side story, not apart of the main trilogy.

Yeah, I've heard the first game's story is actually quite good and Kratos is somewhat likeable in that game, but after that, he seems entirely immature and unwilling to take responsibility for his own actions. I don't know, maybe it's different for people who've played the games, but I can't stand his character.

Its not that he doesn't take responsibility for his own actions, he doesn't care about the consequences as long as he gets his revenge. The only redeeming factor in the third game was brought about by hope in the third game whom he saved by opening up Pandoras box. After the first game whatever remorse kratos had ceased to exist because of the betrayl of came upon him once again in the same game after he took his brother Ares place as the God of War and was betrayed by Zeus. Zeus thought he was abusing his power and did away with him. He vowed to murder the gods for betraying him and finding out that he was another one of Zeuses bastard children did nothing to stop him.
The reason why hes called the Ghost of Sparta is because he goes mad after his wife and daughters death at his own hands (which he was tricked into doing by ares) and hes cursed to wear their ashes for the rest of his existence. I'll send you a video of the Saga cut scenes.
I have to say, Bayonetta is infinitely more interesting and likable than Kratos...

I've seen people talk a lot of shit about Bayonetta's story and her character, but honestly, I found her to be one of the most endearing characters I've ever played as. She just loves being her promiscuous self while also being a badass, yet she has a softer side that's shown in the first game with Cereza and the sequel with her parents. She's a very multidimensional character, although it doesn't seem like that if you don't play the games.

Thats true, but Bayonettas story is something reviewers gave up on trying to deceipher years ago. I dont find Kratos to be likeable either, but his story coupled with the greek mythos interwoven causes some epic battles. It makes more sense despite to uncontrollable rage of the protagonist and the presentation helps slightly. Greek heroes were not supposed to be liked, they were supposed to tell a humanized story that gods could not. Back in those days stories were told in a much harsher light than we are told today.
I was rather surprised at how much there was to Bayonetta's character. It was interesting to see her start to crack a little.
Let's be real though, God of War and Bayonetta are cheesy power fantasies. I love em lol. Though at least Bayonetta tried to be a cheesy power fantasy. I think it wasn't quite on purpose with Kratos(never liked the character much).

Bayonetta is not promiscuous, shes a tease. With the exaggerated tone of the game almost any character would've gotten some if that were so. The fact is she gave it up to no one. The only thing multidimensional about her (in the first game) is the fact that she can go through dimensions.
