comparing bayonetta to god of war is like comparing veal cutlets to ground beef.

I never said it was great, I said if you've read greek mythology, its not far off in how brutal things really were in God of War. Kratos was better off dead if he wasnt of use to his father (which is why Zeus tried to kill him in part two). You say to yourself..."Would Zeus really do this?" and the answer would be "yes, he would.". This is why I can accept the events in the alternate universe they've created. The whole thing was an allegory for the world we live in wrapped up in betrayl, fear, lies,  incest, murder and mayhem caused by a governing family that everyone feared but respected because they held up the balance of life. Its basically a soap opera with superpowered beings and a god that couldn't keep his **** in his pants and the falling out of everything their struggles for power, was always collateral damage.

Actually you said/implied it was both great and epic:

God of War represents everything Sony is stands for which is an epic story

Gameplaywise I would be inclined to agree, but I love a great story.

I don't know why I'm being such a dick right now, but yeah...this whole argument is weird.

you're being too kind of course, there isn't really an argument besides i like god of war cuz it's "epic."

anyway, i played the first on ps2 out of morbid curiosity, and i don't understand why anyone would play it again on the same platform that had three devil may cry titles... or any other platform, for that matter.

also, why does kratos look perpetually and severely constipated?

No, and the next game will come to other consoles.

But Nintendo doesn't own the IP.

actually we do not know the terms of whatever deal was struck. what we do know is that kamiya said on twitter that seeing bayonetta on another console would be like seeing mario and zelda... sega still appears in the credits, yes, but that's probably because they funded the first game. technically they own the ip, but i'm pretty sure after sega pulled a bait-and-switch on platinum with funding for bayonetta 2, nintendo's going to get priority. plus, bayonetta 2 is not selling badly and will end up outselling bayonetta 360 ltd.

I don't know why I'm being such a dick right now, but yeah...this whole argument is weird. The primary

The primary narrative for the story of God of War as your video showed was set in God of War. What they never told you is that the trilogy was one interwoven story. The first game did the primary storytelling with the origins story of Kratos (I feel bad for those who judge the trilogy without playing the first game), the second game covered the betrayls of a man who rose to power (replacing hades as the god of war) and his fall from grace at the hands of his father, and the third was the conclusion of the second where Kratos and the Titans come to overthrow Zeus but right when Kratos is close to the top of mount olympus, he's betrayed by Gaia as he outlived his use to her and not only goes for revenge upon his father and anyone who stands in his way but also gaia. The whole point of the rage of kratos is that even in death he could not be kept down. Kratoses story is the opposite of Heracles or else he might have been heracles in the first place.

Ohh okay, I didn't know about that other stuff.

Well its sold pretty badly so far, and outselling bayonetta 2 on the 360 isn't really impressive. It probably won't even do that for many years, and by that time it will be in the bargain bin.

I remember one time I was mildly curious when it came to the God of War franchise and I was considering trying them out, but didn't for some reason. After looking up the cutscenes of the third game and Ascension, I'm glad I didn't.

For now, Bayonetta is all I need to satisfy my hack & slash craving, although I may check out the earlier Devil May Cry games eventually.
