LOL Nintendo fans are so funny. They never cared for Beyonetta but now that it's exclusive to Nintendo it's the greatest hack & slash game ever and far superior to everything else. Go figure.

Errr...I think Bayonetta was largely considered to be one of the best hack n slash/spectacle fighters by pretty much everyone and Bayo 2 improves on it in almost every way. No need to go throwing around baseless assumptions...that just has no place in this thread (or any thread really)

He's kind of right, but also wrong. Bayonetta is one of the greatest hack n slashes but he's not wrong about how Nintendo fans cling to anything exclusive on the internet.

dmc (the recent ps360 incarnation) proves western developers can do great character action games, but platinum (and its previous incarnations) is where it's really at: devil may cry 1+3, viewtiful joe 1-2, metal gear rising, bayonetta 1-2, the wonderful 101...

i don't know of another developer that so totally owns a whole (nowadays less mainstream) genre.

No baseless assumptions really. Bayonetta was an OK game that not many regarded as "one of the best" anything. The sequel is better without a doubt. But to hear people say things like comparing God Of War to it is like comparing veal to ground beef is just absolutely ridiculous!

Yeah, it's a bit weird but also pretty great. They have a real knack for this kinda stuff. I wish more developers would take to the genre because it really is loads of fun and it needs more representation in the industry. Right now, we really only have God of War, Bayonetta and Devil May Cry as major players.

I remember one time I was mildly curious when it came to the God of War franchise and I was considering trying them out, but didn't for some reason. After looking up the cutscenes of the third game and Ascension, I'm glad I didn't.

For now, Bayonetta is all I need to satisfy my hack & slash craving, although I may check out the earlier Devil May Cry games eventually.

You're writing off God Of War due to the only game in the series that's not considered a top notch game. Bad move. The first 3 games are all solid Game Of The Year candidates. Also, if you're gonna check out the earlier Devil May Cry games (the ones with the real Danté) be sure to not allow the abomination that is part 2 to deter you from part 3's awesomeness.

So true. Case in point. I see Nintendo fans on this site dismissing all other console's exclusives because they supposedly don't compare to Nintendo's. Bayonetta was just another game to them. But now that it's exclusive to Nintendo it's the best game of it's kind.

Platinums bread and butter are hack n slash games, but they dont have to make sense to be enjoyable. The DMC reboot had a story that made sense but the gameplay wasnt as high impact and controllable as the Japanese versions by Kamiya.
