How do achievements influence gameplay for you?

Trophies/achievements are nothing more than a progress/milestone/skill tracker. No one forces you to get them, none of a games features are hidden behind them... so I don't see what the problem is. They just track most of what gamers would have done on their own anyways. How often do people play games trying to onle make head shots? or trying to go on a killing spree in a multiplayer match without dying? Or trying to collect as many blast shards as possible to level up your character? or trying to beat that ridiculously powerful optional boss? Or trying to reach the farthest zone possible in wipeout HD, So there is a system that just universally tracks "achievements" like that and gives you "trophies" for them. 

A system that makes it easy to know if that friend of yours finished all the challenge levels in vanquish without you having to ask them. As I said, don't get whats not to like.

Look I completely agree with you. I personally like trophies and think when done right can enchance the experience. Dragon Age: Inquisition, for example, had a great trophy list that really got you to do things you normally wouldn't do.

I don't care for them. Never made me play a game more than I want though, so they don't bother me. I like looking at the percentages next to trophies though, can be quite illuminating sometimes. Like less than 1% of players defeating the first boss in Giana Sisters. Sad.

I used to care about them when I only played in one console.Now that I game in ALL platforms I just don't have the time anymore, and I have a ton of that, hell there's times in which I buy 20+ games in just one month.Even if I wanted to I would never be able to unlock all the achivements/trophies for all of them, unless I played 24/7.

There was a moment in time when I was obsessed with trophies, but now I couldn't care less. They're just filler, ultimately and there's no real reward for getting all of them other than bragging rights.

you are not alone in this.

if the game, for itself, makes me want to get the things on the game, that is worthable.
If I need a trophy for doing it, thats something wrong with the game itself.

I kind of find them annoying. I never feel like I've ever really 'achieved' anything.

Yeah, that's why I was only referring to this poll.

Regardless, there's been more responses than I had expected. I thought there would just be a small group of us. But that must be because people who don't care about achievements simply don't talk about it. They don't go out and express how they don't care about them, like what I'm doing now.
