Achievement unlocked: "Goodbye".

Achievements are useful for competionists. When I was in highschool it was cool for boasting, but not so much anymore. I just use it to track my completionist status.

Because that was such a successful gun and run plan for the last several dozen people that tried it ^^;

I do like it and I have to thank xbox 360 for that. Before trophies, I used to play agame one time on normal difficulty and move on to the next game, now I play the game more than one time and on higher difficulties.
I could literally care less about them, would not care if a console had them

Microsoft is taking achievements too far by giving you achievements just to watch TV shows. If they are done for right reasons an enhance the gaming experience then by all means.
I used to like them on the 360, and generally tried to get the majority of them in the games I liked. But when I went back to Nintendo and the Wii U I very quickly realized that I didn't miss them.
Truth be told, I felt liberated by their exclusion. Achievements are always set out to tell you what to do and how to do it. Nowadays I set my own goals for victory and I'm having more fun doing it.
Now I've a PS4 as well I'm finding that I'm still ignoring the trophies. I just don't care anymore.
And FYI a lot of Nintendo games have an a achievement style system, but it's at a game rather than system level.
