Yes it is but we dont know how long this generation will last ultimately. I doubt it would last past 5 years TBH as these consoles are already under powered compared to that of PC. This was not an issue during at the start-mid years of last generation as the cnosoles were equivalent or perhaps slightlymore powerful then the PC's during this time frame, thus implying a longer generation for developers to utlise the full potential

IMO this generation will last around 5 years max, depends on when devs start screaming to MS and SONY for more power etc. This will happen as already 1080p 60fps is already a stretch for the more "powerful" ps4, let alone the X1. In saying this the ps4 can still notch up impressive numbers during this time

Didn't the Wii do that as well for awhile? The reason the PS2 will never be topped is because of the time in which is launched, the amount of exclusive games it had, and the length it stayed on the market. 

The PS4 didn't launch in an era of smart devices and other tech that drains peoples wallets. It also doesn't have the luxury of having damn near every AAA third party exclusive on lock down like the PS2 had. Add to the fact that it's far weaker than the PS2 was relative to the time it launched and you're looking at a console that doesn't stand a chance of selling well for a decade, in my opinion.

I think it'll win WW with ease and finish above the Wii. It won't do much better than that though.

Modern games have no variety - you have action, shooting and driving games that are made by same formula. You can't tell anymore whether the game is Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell or Hitman - they are the same game. Will PS4 have games like Okami or Colossus? No, but it will have God of War and Unsharted. How many times people are willing to buy and play the same game over and over? That is the question that will make or break PS4.

There are 61,5M left. For 4 years, that's an average of 15,375M a year. If it sold +14M in a year with full price and none of its bigger exclusives, that average is guaranteed. Then you add the cooling off period where consoles (specially Sony's) still sell decently after a new gen starts and it goes well beyond 80M.

I don't think many people were confident it would pass PS2, I don't remember that even being a conversation... only that it will repeat ps2 style dominance.

PS4 sold 18.4m in its first 13months, at $399 with no major next gen exclusives without any Japanese support and some are thinking it won't pass 100m LT? That doesn't even make sense, the system isn't even close to peaking yet.

Only you expected that. PS4 is not gonna outsell it LTD because generations nowadays are shorter. What it will do is outsell the PS2 for the whole time it's on the market. Also it already is a bigger succes for Sony than PS2 ever was financially. I predict 110 million.
