Forums - Sales - Nintendo total hardware per generation

I choose to believe that the DS/Wii destroyed their reputation by going after a fickle audience that has since gone to mobile. Gamers went elsewhere. That's why the numbers are so low this gen.

I doubt that, it's not like they abandoned the GBA/GC audience with the DS/Wii, more like they made certain mistakes that have affected sales of these current gen devices. 3DS/Wii U both launched at much higher prices than any previous Nintendo handheld/console, both have names that make them seem like upgrades to DS/Wii instead of completely new devices, both have had pretty poor advertising in the west, both had software prices increase compared to last generation, both have had periods of droughts without big exclusive titles. If they can fix these problems with their next devices than we could easily see them returning to 100+ million sales.

I still stand by the WiiU selling at least 20m, 3DS could sell 80m but I'm not too sure.

I think Wii U 23M and 3DS 75M

The consistency of Nintendo is simply amazing and this shows that total hardware sales are always the better measure.

Wait wait wait wait. I think your on to something.

30m Wii U's and 70m 3Ds
or 20m Wii U's and 80m 3DS

or it can be 100-120m in total. :O

Yay!

The Game and Watch came during the second generation, nice try though

It doesn't really matter, majority of its support occurred during Famicom/NES life.

The 3DS came out during the 7th gen. Most of the games released for the Game and Watch came out during the NES' life cycle. Last game released on the system was in 1989.

If Nintendo tries really hard, they could manage 100m combined with 80m 3DS' and 20m Wii Us. They need to push these consoles for a few more years though, which I think is possible.

But I think 75m 3DS and 15m Wii U is basically a lock at this point, and 90m is nothing to scoff at.

Thanks buddy. And I don't have any problem with trying new, unconventional features to their devices but not if that means they will launch $100 more than they should.

You're welcome friend

I agree. I'm cool with new things as long as they aren't too pricey. They also need to use the features well. As of now, I don't think either was needed to enhance games.

Honestly, for now, I like the touchpad on the Duelshock 4 more than the Gamepad. The touchpad didn't add much to the price but I like the feature. Is it a must have? No. Again, it's nice to have esspecially since it doesn't make the controller to expensive.

all in all, it should have been like Kinect or the Balance Board, optional.

I think they can past 100m combined sales, see sig
