SO is not what Gears of Wars was. Not even close. No sense in MS worrying about it.

Btw Uncharted 1 sold nearly 5 million

SO sold 3/4ths of 1 million

Exactly.  +1

Plus 2....wait...but he was wrong in his train of thought because at this time in Uncharteds life it was just as popular as Sunset Overdrive. Uncharted went unnoticed for quite a while. Uncharted 2's popularity brought new life to Uncharted 1, including bundles.

Wrong.  It still sold WAYYYY better.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Isn't Sunset Overdrive just a brighter copy of the infamous series. Let MS have both SO and Gears of War. I prefer the darker infamous series over SO and I didn't care for gears of war.

Not exactly. It does take parts from InFamous. This is the best I can do to show you what its like besides you seeing a Lets Play.

- Its highly colorful like a Pixar movie and the artstyle matches the colors.

- The jokes are like Saints Row but done properly.

- The traversal is a mix of Tony Hawk and InFamous.

- The Gunplay is like Ratchet and Clank

- It has gore and lots of profanity (even has a button to turn those things off)

- It has some of the most epic boss battles of life.

- Its created around pure fun.

When I say "pull a Gears of War", I mean do what Microsoft did the majority of the first half of last gen which was pay for publishing exclusivity rights to new IP's that could otherwise grow elsewhere. This is how they kept Gears away from Sony. This could be their second tier TPS behind Gears of War where gamers can just lay back and have fun. A nice 2016 E3 announcement for the sequel at the presser should seal the deal.

If they let Sony get their hands on this game that is one growing new IP that could gain ground in the new gen. Its fine that it starts off slow, but so did Uncharted last gen and look at where it is today. Time reveals all, so I think they should just be smart about this. I'm confident in Sony actually being able to make their own games, but MS at their best are always good at finding developers to publish for them and this is one of those games that they do not want to miss out on.  While Insomniac makes Ratchet for Sony, they could be making Sunset for MS.

SO is not what Gears of Wars was. Not even close. No sense in MS worrying about it.

Btw Uncharted 1 sold nearly 5 million

SO sold 3/4ths of 1 million

Uncharted one has been out for like 7 years on a console that sold 80 mil . Sunset Overdrive has been out on a console that sold 11 mil so far for 3 months. At least try.

But it's concept is mainly from infamous. A guy gets powers and uses them however the player wants in a city/sandbox open world. It's Microsoft's counter to infamous. Nothing wrong with that being the case. It will probably remain exclusive to MS.

I agree. SO could eventually be a bigger franchise someday. It's a spiritual successor to ratchet and clank imo, and really could have much better sales on a console with a fanbase who actually like Ratchet and Clank. This could have been a much better seller. It's like ff13 between the 360 and ps3. Like, why would you put ff13 on a console that doesn't have a fanbase for that genre? All you really did was sell to multiple console owners and people who would have bought a ps3. On top of which, it was a mediocre game, which just acts as a bad first impression for new players.

I really hope they made money on it, and I believe SO should come to PS, if Insomniac has any say about it. Hell, they should re-release it for ps4 as soon as they possibly can.

EDIT: Looks like I responded more to the second part of your post than the first. Locking this game up should be a no-brainer, but the IP itself needs some work if Insomniac ever wants it to be a great seller. Because it doesn't have the traditional ps fanbase to turn to for easy sales, they have to make their game that much better quality if they want to improve.

I would say the game though is much more similar to Dead Rising on the 360, though. Initially exclusive, then a second entry port, then exclusive again, with much more similar sales than Gears.

Fun fact: I just typed in Dead Rising into the database search engine and the first result was "gears of war". Weird.

*rolls eyes * FF 13 is an rpg. Do you know how much skyrim(another rpg) sold on 360? Tons. Theyres tons I successful rpg's on 360. Also if we're talking about jrpgs then 360 has a fan base too. If at least one copy of ff13 got sold on 360 that means theyres a fan base for it.

A guy gets powers and uses them however the player wants in an open world. Do you know how much games are exactly like that? Not original to infamous. Besides the Mc never gets powers. He can do the gliding and stuff straight from the beginning without an explanation xD

Edit:btw stage you've gotten much more neutral lately. I like that :)

The game isnt supposed to demand very much thought, but the way that the story plays it it doesnt matter. It in itself is a parody of games today and itself. How the guy gets powers and random and it isn't even explained. He just turns into a badass after he escapes the OD. The game is more akin to Dead Rising than it is to InFamous, but it does have factions like InFamous. More of them to be exact and they are stereotypcial and hilarious. There is a group of Otaku Boyscouts, Tech geeks, Latina cheerleaders a crazy redneck who has the most badass challenge mode (he has a TV show where he airs you in contention with the OD) and much, much more.

Behold my glorious return! xP SO much busy been keeping me from the site.

Anyway, on this subject, given Insomniac was specifically looking to hold onto the IP, they might not be open to having it become a de facto exclusive anyway. (Assuming other publishers have now begun to express interest in taking them on, and can't see why they wouldn't.) Now, of course, there's always the 'Make Them An Offer Too Good To Refuse' option, but Insomniac's preferences might make the wheelbarrow of money/incentives required to seal the deal significantly larger than the IP is actually worth, too large for Microsoft to consider 'worth it,' in terms of cost vs. reward.

The level of cost that they're willing to endure to secure the IP might come down to how solid they consider their future lineup of exclusives to be; the more confident Microsoft is that they have a good quantity of quality content, the less they'll probably stretch themselves trying to lock down this one property.

Zanten, Doer Of The Things

Unless He Forgets In Which Case Zanten, Forgetter Of The Things

Or He Procrascinates, In Which Case Zanten, Doer Of The Things Later

Or It Involves Moving Furniture, in Which Case Zanten, F*** You.

It would be a good second tier title for the Xbox platform but I wouldn't mind playing this on Playstation lol.

Put gorillas as the main characters? I don't know man...

In all seriousness, I really, REALLY don't think Sony is that worried over not having this game. It didn't sell that well, it didn't break the mold or do anything else remarkable besides being a well made, well reviewed exclusive.
