If you view my comments you see I compare Sunset Overdrive and InFamous to be a like in sales more than i do Uncharted.  YOu can see that both in here and on Sunset's wall becayse theyre selling pretty much identical in retail.  My point however is that Uncharted did not sell 5m in 9 weeks. In fact it didnt even sell 1m so lets not act like Uncharted did.  Most games do not sell millions in a few weeks, specially when it comes to new ip where very select few does.  What we can say without a  doubt, just like InFamous, Sunset Overdrive will be going on to sell between 1-2m on its own merrit which is very successful

Well, hopefully Sony gets the second Sunset because they screwed the pooch with the first. You have to have an ego to demand the IP to every single AAA title that lands on your platform. Its time for Sony to stop having so much pride and realize who they are dealing with.

I think Sony wants to own IP's which they publish because if it turns out to be huge the would like to keep the IP instead of paying royalty to its developer every time a new one is being made just to keep it exclusive. That also makes more sense for a company which doesn't have too much money right now.

Sony has had around twenty years as a partner with Insomniac now. They own almost every IP that insomniac has made for them. Letting Insomniac keep one of their IP's wont hurt them. Its not out of the question after being partners for a long time. Sony needs to pick their battles and thats where I think Microsoft came out on top this time. Sony will come back on their own terms, but they could've been more competitive had they not been so pride striken.  They've made many mistakes. The ones they need the least are the ones that come from the gaming industry. Microsoft can outspend them....so why would they give Microsoft the chance?

Nobody said it sold 5 million in 9 weeks, The OP is the one who drew the comparison between SO and Uncharted. I was pointing out that although the sales up to week 9 were somewhat similar, the way the games were selling was very different.

I'm sure SO will sell closer to InFamous than it will Uncharted, though I think it will sell closer to InFamous 2 than it will to the first game.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I drew the comparison by saying that Uncharted was a sleeper until Uncharted 2 was revealed at the VGA's in 2008. Uncharted was a on a two year cycle and launched in 2009. As you can well see...based on bundling and sequel popularity..the original Uncharted has continued to sell well into 2014. After Uncharted 2 came out the hype for Uncharted one really started to mount. The VGA trailer was only the start.

And im sure itll be closer to InFamous as well but the above post is terrible and shows a lack of research.  Uncharted was not a breakout hit until after Uncharted 2 came out and a lot of bundling each holiday.  Though for some reason you quoted me instead of the other guy that i quoted, not sure why.

I don't think sunset could ever be as popular as Gears so there would be no point.

I never said it had to be, my friend. In truth, I was only alluding to the fact that Uncharted was once a sleeper that eventually gained popularity over time with continued iterations.

Not everything needs to sell over 5M to be successful, 1.5M-2M is already quite good.

If not, gaming industry would be death by now imo

Ah I see, but I feel like Sunset wasn't popular enough for a sequel or to be turned into a series. There is potential but MS are better off making something else on their own.

I hate to spoil things for the haters but...there will be a Sunset Overdrive 2. I just had to encourage Microsofts further investment in the growth of a great franchise in the making if they want the upper hand as time goes by against Sony. As I said before and will say again Uncharted itself went underrated until Uncharted 2 was announced.
