Forums - Gaming - How do you play Dragon Age Inquisition?

Also take Iron Bull to kill some dragons, he has funny dialog and you can talk to him about the fight back at skyhold

The loot you find in this game sucks, if you find something you think is good, you should be able to craft a better item instead.

You can kill some Dragons at 12.  Try the Hinterlands one.

Also if you feel like cheating a bit, can very easily dupe crafting materials.  Saves farming them.

Thats why you  should find schematics. You can create your own armor and clothes. Also, try to save up enough so you can purchase weapons and armor in Val Royeaux.

I just learned how to craft runes at lvl 14 and I am already over 525+DPS combined with my dual blades (not including other stats) with a rogue! This is insane! I used a frost rune and it increased my DPS by 100! I AM INVINCIBLE!!!! I love RPG's when they are made properly!

Dragons still do terrify me though. I'm level 12, so I guess I shouldn't be too far away from taking them on. But I am curious what I should be spending my money on. I tend to get nice progression of armour and weapons through looting. I have also picked up a fair few designs to craft add on items, which I have been sticking on. I haven't had much trouble with these methods, but I'm only playing on normal and playing quite thoroughly, so am appropriately levelled

I have been crafting some armour, but I haven't found better weapons. Should I be buying up schematics?

I guess I'm playing it wrong to a degree. most of the schematics I find, even when attaching dragon bone to them produce worse stats than just some rare armour you just find. I do however do the boots and gloves for each armour a lot. The plus 10% stats thing won't help in most cases. I guess, I've just not found the good schematics and it's probably true, I mean last game I played I only ever had 1 mage staff schematic and I was playing as a mage.

It's not like the game is hard mind, I guess the armour crafting would help more in Nightmare.

Hmm, pie.

How far are you in the game?

Completed it twice. I've not done Hard or Nightmare though, I'm a story player, not there for a challenge. Might give that a go one day but considering I pretty much played the game straight for 2 months, I'm having a break. :P

Hmm, pie.

Personally if I find a weapon that looks good, I can craft one with 20-50 more damage.  Same for armour, 30-70(!) more defence than what is found.  Schematics rule this game.

Are you finding these schematics? Because I don't seem to have picked up any which are better than my found equipment in general

Rogue
Started off wielding Dual Blades with Dual Fang, Invisibility, and Poison Weapons. But, as I got about 20% into the game, I've switched to using a Bow (Exacting Longbow currently). And reset my abilities to replace Dual Fang with Longshot and death from above. Playing as an archer has allowed me better focus and control of the overall battle as a whole I have found.

Oh, and am I the only one who turned off the necromancer "revive/possession"skill for Dorian?

It's buggy as hell. I hope they patch it.
For starters, it makes fade rift battles very tedious, because the rift doesn't count the monster wave as defeated until the revived monster dies as well. And since you can't hurt it or dispell it, I have to wait for about 1 minute between each monster wave while doing nothing but watching the monsters lifebar deplete. And yes, even when its time to close the rift I have to wait for it to die.

Also, monsters revived this way tend to flip out and scale walls and stuff that you normally can't get up on. Many times an enemy revived this way has run up some mountain or cave wall and died there. And dropped the loot there! Meaning I can't reach it.

So I turned off that skill for Dorian under tactics. Which is lame, because it's his best Necromancer skill.

I'm just starting to use Dorians Necromancer option. If I dont like it i'll just swap him out for another mage. Thanks for the heads up. I would think necromancer would cause a lot of widepsread panic and aoe damage.
