PC is still the strongest platform in germany. The amount of sold games on consoles only reaches the PC numbers if you put ALL separate consoles (PS3, Xbox360, Wii, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U) together:

Germany is still pretty much about PC. That's a plain fact. As for piracy, i don't think it's a that much bigger issue here than everywhere else.
Imports, especially from the UK are a thing though. UK retail games are often cheaper here and dont have that giant USK logo. So there's quite a lot of gamers that order online from UK or other cheaper EU-shops.

As for Xbox, well, in terms of consoles it's been Playstationnation since PS1 days. Having the 'less powerful', for some time more expensive and far less famous console brought MS a pretty tough time over here.
It's mainly Xbox fans that have bought the One.
And some Xbox fans really got pissed by Microsofts always online/DRM/TV BS and changed sides.

As for me, i'm waiting for a bigger harddisk and a really good deal. But overall i guess europe will be really dominated by Sony this gen. Germany definitely will be.

These imports are irrelevant in the big picture, most game buyers won't think about importing stuff and don't give a shit about big USK logos or saving a few bucks each game. The main issue is that most PC games (allegedly 9 of 10 games) are sold digital (with Steam as main distributor) and don't surface in retail statistics.

the last time I went to a media markt or saturn I also didn't spot a ps4 for sale, just many xbones ... but they should have some in stock now.

and that 333€ xbone deal with fifa is getting pretty old, there were like 3 of those or even more 333€ sales starting before christmas till now (media markt had one of those before christmas).

but thank god you can still get ps4 on amazon. just some bundles are only 3rd sellers and like 50-100€ more expansive than mrsp.
Hell buying the console bare with the game and an extra controller would be 50€ cheaper than buying some of those bundles.

but to be fair even on local stores there are some in stock if you dont mind driving 50miles or so ...

No, American buyers have to pay taxes on top of the $399 price. The taxes there are lower, but different taxes in different countries are not the fault of Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft but of the different governments.

You always have to compare prices without taxes in international comparisons.

Well UK will be following the trend and US will stay the same on 2015 i think.
