Gut says 3ds, even with a significant drop off in sales it could edge out the competition to 20 million. Then I'd say ps4, what momentum xbone had seems to be dwindling and now that its holiday sale is over and the price is back at $400 the ps4 may well pick up where it left off before November.

PS4 unless MS suddenly decides to start $330 2 game bundles all year. PS4 will get a price cut this year most likely and then the slaughter will really begin if it's a significant one ($50 or $100 will be big)

MLB 2015 is March aswell. Not much else have specific release dates yet, but some other 2015 PS4 exlusives (or atleast, "not on Xbox" exlcusives) include

Like I said, those games mostly just have launch windows as of right now. But that's a pretty solid lineup and it's very, very early in the year and more games will certainly be announced.

On top of that, 3rd party games have usually done more for the PS4 so far than they have for the Xbox One.

Bolded are beyond niche when it comes to moving systems, Uncharted is the holiday, Ratchet, Until Dawn and the rest as well no? In terms of quality (always yet to be seen for any game) it's pretty good, but we're talking moving systems here. I just don't see the likes of Persona being anymore than a blip on the radar when it comes to selling hardware in the US ....

MS need to announce more for the whole year for sure.

But so far it's that line up above Vs Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Forza, Fable Legends and Quantum Break for the holidays.

The 3DS reaching 20 million is a little iffy. If Nintendo can play their cards right with  the launch of the new 3ds coupled with the momentum from Pokemon+smash, a better first half lineup than 2014 and a whatever NFC title they have, I think the 3DS can get there before the PS4 and Xbox one.

I'm gonna have to go with 3DS just because of its lead. As for PS4 and XB1, I think the PS4 will just edge the XB1.

I m pretty sure that nintendo will lure or even force us to buy New3ds/xl!Many wii remakes will arrive on New 3ds/xl or even a major game would release just on New3ds/xl,like Pokemon Z!

I reckon Nintendo has a card NFC game for the New 3DS, either for the western launch or holiday periods. That will probably a major system seller, in my view.

According to VGC, the 3DS sold ~2.7 Million units in the US in 2014. If we are to expect a hefty drop in 2015 I wouldnt be surprised to see that number drop to 2 Million or lower (It was 4 Million in 2013).

If we assume VGC numbers are correct and the 3DS will end 2014 at ~14.5 Million, I think it would be fair to assume a 2015 total of ~16.5-17 Million units. After this I could see pretty big drops as Nintendo get ready to announce the successor. Fair to assume it ends 2016 sitting at an absolute maximum of 18.5 Million units?

2017/2018 will see the promotion/release of the next Nintendo handheld and if the 3DS does leg it to 20 Million in the US, it will be in this time frame.

Moving on to the PS4 and Xbox One, I think both platforms will break 20 Million in the US fairly easily. We know that the PS4 can sell really well throughout the Year and we know that the Xbox One is only a pricecut away from matching the competition.

I think its fair to say that both platforms will increase YoY in the US thanks to new, exciting software finally releasing. The PS4 has big exclusives all throughout the Year (Bloodborne, MLB, Order, Ratchet and most importantly Uncharted 4) while the Xbox One has some real big hitters too (Halo, Fable, Tomb Raider). When you add in 3rd party developers finally leaving Gen 7 hardware behind, you get a whole bunch of new gamers jumping on board.

Eventual pricecuts on top of huge, system selling software?

I think both PS4 and Xbox One will see 7 Million Years in the US for 2015, bringing both platforms to 13/14 Million units. Could probably expect very similar numbers in 2016 as the platforms completely break free from Gen 7, have competitive pricepoints and have vibrant exclusive libraries.

PS4 reaches first, Xbox One reaches second, 3DS reaches it last.
