Sony won by not losing, haha. I love it. I will probably put that quote on my sig. When your competition loses touch with their gamers, they pave their way for their own demise (exaggerated for dramatic effect), MS's arrogance and Nintendo's stubbornness.

It's got one thing wrong - the PS4 is the default system of choice now, not simply because of the competitors dropped the ball, but also because gamers know that it will end up having the best library of the gen.

Sony in their research polled hundreds of gamers and developers. The result is the ps4.
It has the tech developers wanted and the package gamers wanted. All without breaking the bank and lots of money invested in new games and development.
it has the highest performing hardware, enough innovation to feel like an upgrade, and a slew of games to back it up.
this is the result of making a system for gamers by gamers.
plain and simple.
they also have motion control and a cheap kinect 1 similar camera made optional from the start.
where would the war be had they included it for 60$ more?
I think it would be a much tighter race.

So they won by making smart decisions? Like every other winning console in history.

Meh, I don't know.

Makes assumptions, ignores information that doesn't fit with the purpose of the article, and cherry picks.

Like most of what this guy writes.

Though its a mark of how poor mainstream understanding of the console cycle is that we view this as a good article.

As others have said about the console war, he wins because everyone else loses

They gave to traditional players what they wanted, and they communicated to kids that the PS4 it's the best and cooler option. Many these players are parents of those kids, anyway. Microsoft is there fighting and Nintendo just lost miserably already.



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
