(face plam) A console for gamers first. So Nintendo made a console for gamers second?

Lets be honest nintendo stopped trying to compete along time ago.  All they care about is selling enough to turn a profit, and survive its why their systems have weaker specs and rely heavier on 1st than 3rd party software.  Unfortuantely for nintendo in terms of competing (especially against sony) that hasnt worked out so well the last 20 years in terms of being the industry leader they once were prior to sony's arrival.

Looks like gamers are ignoring all the systems. The problem with Wii U is weak and reused content, then again; having the two models, black Wii U and white Fuck U aren't really building trust to Nintendo, as I don't think I'm the only one who can't understand why I can't choose which colour to buy, as my options are either to get the black which I don't want or the gimped down version which I don't want.

Except that Nintendo isn't turning in profit, which is the bad part here (then again, this forces Nintendo to do something about it). Consoles have always had "weaker specs", at least those who wish to continue to next generation, as making losses have destroyed nearly every company - which is what happened with SCE too that was discontinued and Playstation was put under other division a couple of years back.

I dont know why so few people discount the $400 price point for PS4. At the $5/600 price point the console sold 10.5 million by its 2nd new year(having 1 month at the $400 price point) and 21 million by its 2nd(obviously 400 that entire year).

Now PS4 has 8 million more at this point but its been cheaper the whole time. If PS3 were $400 out of the gate PS4 would have likely done drastically better(PS3 was a drastically better system than the PS4 after year one.)

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

It is pretty good.

Although this bit is a load of crap. 'If even Sony can’t comprehend why their system is selling so well, I’m not going to pretend like I have all the answers. To some extent, it does defy logic.'
It is obvious why it is selling so well. It gives gamers exactly what they wanted, it really is that simple.

Agreed on the defy logic comment, but he nailed it when he talked about it being a game system first and foremost vs the more gimmicky aspects of the wii-u controller and the xbox kinect launch forced bundle.

How are the U and X1 less of a gaming system than the PS4? In no way does kinect or the game pad mean not gaming first.

The article explores that more in depth, but if you want the basic cliff notes the ps4 was going by the "if its not broken dont fix it" strategy.  Where as the xbox was trying to force kinect down peoples throat at a much higher price point for a feature most xbox gamers didnt want in the first place, and as  far as the wii-u is concerned it was using a gimmicky controler to differentiate it from the pack, but that only served to alienate core gamers who were used to a more traditional controller making it less appealing to the mainstream.

Then the article is nonsense because none of this makes the PS4 a more gaming system. And the U pad is so far from a gimmick that it's ridiculous.  People throw the "g" word around like it's nothing. The game pad has more than proven it's viability for gaming.

This has nothing to do with the U not being a gaming first system. It has more to do with hype and the ridiculous notion that Nintendo is for kids. Nintendo has done a terrible job of over coming that misperception.  That's the reason.

It's got one thing wrong - the PS4 is the default system of choice now, not simply because of the competitors dropped the ball, but also because gamers know that it will end up having the best library of the gen.

*laughing gif*

You know it's true. PS1, PS2 and PS3 - all the best libraries of their generations. But it's ok - gamers speak with their wallets.

Actually I don´t, when I think on the best games of every generation PS is almost always missing the biggest masterpieces

The greatest games of Psone era? Ocarina Of Time, Goldeneye and Mario 64, did ps have some¿?then it don´t have THE BEST games of its generation

Had ps2: Halo, Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Ninja Gaiden, F-Zero, Twilight Princess, Mario Sunshine,Smash Bros Melee, etc? Oh no, so it doesn´t have THE BEST games of it´s generation.

And ps3 had Tlou ... but has ps3 Super Mario Galaxy (best rated game ever after OoT), or Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, Gears of Wars 1,2 and 3, Halo 3,  Fable II, etc et etc Than it doesn´t have the BEST GAMES of his generation.

So that´s YOUR opinion, Ps always have more games, but the bests? Not for me.

And in this generation Ps4 is losing BY FAR in terms of quality,  is not even close to the quality of Wii U line-Up and by now One has so much better exclusives, and in 2015 ps4 is not going to have Xenoblade or Zelda U or Splatoon or Tomb Raider or Star Fox or Quantum Break. Bloodborne looks fine, but The Order?? Omg looks like crap, you´ll see. And there´s something more interesting for ps4 on 2015..... Street Fighter V? Not very exciting .... oh yeah Uncharted 4 tomb raider edition, yeah we´ll see if is not the same over and over. And Nothing more, that´s all the great exclusives that is going to have, oh but is going to have witcher 3, yeah.... like PC and One... So no, Ps4 is not going to have the best games of this generation, and you will see it ;)

He was talking about the library, not a handfull of games that stood out but all the games combined.
And while i'd say which console's library is the best is up to personal perference, the PS4 is likely to have a vastly bigger and more diverse collection of games compared to the WiiU (and maby XB1 as well), and is so likely to (better) satisfy the demands/tastes of more people.

Also the quality of games is (at least partially subjective), but with the sheer amount of games PS4 is getting there is bound to be a decent amount of good games.

So wihle for you the system with the best library might be a Nintendo one, for him/me and a number of other people it's going to be the ps4. And neither will be objectively wrong or right but that's tha beauty of different oppinions.

MS DRM reveal really pushed many to Sony, It was a total blunder and I'm not sure how they didn't see it coming.

If that was true then how come they are losing so badly.  They had the same head start that the xbox had last gen and it took sony less than 6 months to wipe the floor with them and thats with no price cut or superior exclusive librairy.  Face it most gamers think its a gimmick, and believe me i have talked to plenty of people, even die hard nintendo supporters who say that the u-pad is a step to far away from a traditional controller and turned them off from it thats just the reality.
