Activision, Rockstar and EA say "hi"

I do. Every piece of entertainment is heavily streamed besides gaming. In about 10 years I would think all internet providers will have super fast speeds for low costs. Which would make it an easier transition. |
there is always going to be a market for physical copies of games. what if nintendo is the one to say that they want to serve that market? couldnt they support both versions of distributing games kind of like how they do now?
Assuming they realize that they need to catch up to modern standards or risk becoming irrelevant, i agree, they'll probably be involved in gaming for the longest. It's their bread and butter after all. I don't expect any of them to leave for a very long time though.
That said, they aren't as invulnerable as the OT implies (intentionally or not). As the 8th gen has shown us, Nintendo are very much as the whims of the market as a whole. Their lack of relevance to the mainstream home console market, as well as the rapid growth of smart phones have resulted in some of their worst financial results in decades.
You 20m comment is somewhat baseless though. Nintendo have never sold only 20m units in a generation, and without them giving us a proper revenue break down of the GC we don't know if they could sustain themselves on an install base of only 20m. I highly doubt they could. They're too big to survive off a revenue steam that small (not without downsizing, anyway).

also, the fact that nintendo's business can decline even when the industry isnt is a good thing. the fact that they ultimately have control over their own business is a more comforting feeling than being subject to all these different forces that you dont necessarily have any control over at all. |
I highly disagree. Super Punch-Out!! is not a good game. It has sluggish controls and its hard to tell what youre even doing sometimes. Punch-Out!! for the Wii was very well made. There are thousands of little details that could mess up the entire game, but they nailed every single one and expanded upon the formula. When you hit someone, it actually feels like youre hitting them. In Super Punch-Out!! I dont get that feeling at all. Its just a mediocre game that Im very happy they left in the past...

1. So, why did they have so many losses in the past quarters?
2. Nopes, they can't. They've always had handhelds bailing them out.
3. What crazy crap?

MS might be out of it after another gen or so. They are losing money on the Xbox brand, I can't imagine a company as huge as they are to continue to waste even if it's peanuts.

super punch out was a classic and felt like a huge step up in almost every category. i feel like the noise that it makes when you punch someone in that game is very satisfying and i never had any problems being able to tell what was going on lol. i like punch out for wii a whole lot, but it feels more like a remake than an actual next gen punchout that it should have been. it was very disappointing to me. i think their ONE new character was a riot and hilarious. i wish we could have saw more of that. every other character was a remake of the first game. its disappointng. you have to admit that more original characters would have made the game way more enjoyable.
