Forums - Gaming - three reasons nintendo will last longer in the video game space than microsoft or sony

who will last the longest?

nintendo 282 69.12%

microsoft 26 6.37%

sony 99 24.26%

Total:407

Unfortunately your reasons aren't good enough. If they keep having weak consoles and bad third party support, then they won't survive.

nintendo can survive on their hardware and software alone. my assertion of this argument is good enough.

Obviously Nintendo. They are basically one of the earliest foundations of gaming. They are innovative, have been in this industry for decades with no issues, plus, it is Nintendo. That's really all that needs to be said. Lol

If you think Nintendo will not be forced to the type of game budget wars we are seeing you are being naive.

Gaming will changing a lot come 10 years, and Nintendo business will have to adapt or be relegated to a irrelevant player.

Tetris was relevant in the ATARI era. Now it is not, and ATARI is dead.

You think pokemon will be relevant forever if doesn't change?

See thats the exact laughable mindset/business strategy that has sony blowing them out of the water gen after gen, and why they have become less and less relevant to the mainstream for the better part of the last 20 years since sony showed up.  If you dont change and evolve with the competiton your just gonna keep selling to the same small level demos and real businesses dont operate longterm on those principals.  I mean they cant really expect the sales from their portable gaming division to bell them out forever.

Sony is close to bankrupt.MS isn't a serious long term player.

Pokemon being milked? What a totally uncalled for "attack".

Try harder.

lol

Shouldn't you be trying harder?  You really haven't backked what you've said except "pokemon is milked. stop saying it's not, other people"

Lol, as if that is something that I need to back, are you really trying to tell me that you don't see it?

I don't know if they will last longer, but here there are 3 reasons why the could last longer:
1.) Multiplayer with friends never gets old, an Nintendo is the only company to have compelling local multiplayer games (besides sports games).
2.) Nintendo is the best company when it comes to mixing intuitive and easy-to-learn gameplay mechanics with high quality gameplay and value, this means they will always find a market withing kids and new players, if they find a decent formula to sell themselves.
3.) Nintendo is the only company who still has a strong position in the handeld market and its capable to sustain a console with quality titles even without a strong 3rd party support.

Pokemon HAS been changing. If you play a game each generation there are at least a decent amount of semi significant changes. If you play X/Y compared to red/blue it's practically a totally different game. And pokemon has had quite a few successful and innovative spinoffs to date. Tetris is still the same game it was decades ago, just shinier.

4. They are the only ones who have the ability to milk the same franchises for 25 years, and loyal fans who keep on buying them.

That's because the other companies are incompetent to keep releasing quality products as Nintendo.
