Has nothing to do with the battle system. Xenoblade isnt turn based either. It has to do with the lack of a proper supporting cast and narritive.

Everyone has been speculating for years, but there was definitely a falling out when he was making final fantasy on the Sony platforms.I'll do some research and get back to you, but its been a thing for a while that hes had some heat with Sony. No one has ever said why. There definitely had to have been a fallout when he left final fantasy to Kitase. Almost every RPG that guy developers turns into gold and its such a shame that its always on the less popular platforms for tht genre.

Supportng cast and narritive through conversational pieces was an element made famous by Bioware in story driven RPG's. Demon Souls and Dark Souls has a story no matter how shallow it is. That game is purely about Action/RPG gameplay mechanics. There was once a time when Western RPG players used to question whether JRPG's were true JRPG's since you couldn't affect the outcome of the story through their actions, but we've all come to the conclusion that its two culture different perspectives on the RPG even though they all came from a common source.

You're going on a tangent. This is quite simple: No narritive and supporting cast, not an RPG for me. Cant have a role without a play. So, no the director of Dark souls does not make the best RPG's in my opinion because they can hardly be qualified as such.

Huh. If the souls series aren't rpg's than neither is Bethesda's series. They are action rpg's though. |
Action RPG's are RPG's. It does not clear them from the need to have a plot to be qualified as such.
I thought Nintendo got the price for the best developer ;)
Zelda - Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.... Incredable!!!

Not even close, the only dudes who deserve the recognition are the ones from Naughty Dog. Also, Street Fighter isn't a PlayStation game, IV was multiplatform, and V is coming out on PC,
I'm now filled with determination.

There is a narrative. It's just delivered to the audience in an ingenius way. This isn't supposed to be a JRPG that spends hours droning on with awful writing, the story is there, you just have to look for it.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

they said best you know.
Nintendo dominates platformers hands down.
