Wow, it's always amusing to read comments left by people who can't even be bothered to properly read the title of the article. "5 reasons the Wii U won the console war IN OUR HOUSE" <- In THEIR house. Not in the marketplace, not in the current gen, but in the house of the person who wrote the article. That means you stopped reading the title after 9 words when there were only 3 more words to go. Kudos to your epic display of attention deficit disorder.
On topic, all of the points raised are good points. And despite how many people claim there is little justification for the Gamepad itself, I find that it clearly differentiates itself from the gaming experience of other consoles. Having played Wii U almost exclusively (rarely going back to my 360 from time to time) over the past 2 years, I cannot imagine going back to the chore of navigating menus, typing messages, and using the internet with an analog/d-pad controller. And those are just the out of game advantages. Having in-game characters communicate to you through the gamepad like a video phone is extremely immersive. And even though EA only deemed the console worthy of one Madden game, the ability to draw hot routes for your wide receivers on the Gamepad while at the line of scrimmage gave a level of control as the QB far superior than inputting from a list of pre-programmed routes.
Having said that, the lack of 3rd party support becomes hard to ignore after a while. My breaking point happened to be Shadow of Mordor. I think my wife is getting that for me and an Xbox One for Christmas.
