That's cool but more than half of those games are casual games which means "they" were all right about the Wii being catered too much to casuals. It is the very reason why the Wii U has done so bad. It is guilt by association. Since Wii was for casuals then Wii U must be also. The casual market is only good for the short term which is why the WIi was the only console to benefit from it.

The "they" that said Wii was too catered to casuals were the same "they" that were ignorant of the existence of games like Monster Hunter Tri, Sin & Punishment 2, etc.

Wii U's failures are its own fault, not the Wii's.

The Wii U's failures are Nintendo's failures not the Wii's failures. All I'm saying is that Nintendo admittingly catered too much to the casual market and it hurt the potential of the Wii U. The name "Wii U" was a big mistake by Nintendo. Also there are way too many dude-bro casual gamers now a days.

Oh they're definitey Nintendo's failures, I just don't think Wii U's low sales can be blamed on the Wii when Nintendo got so much wrong with the system itself, from its software to its name to its price to its advertising.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Wii U, but they could hardly have done a worse job of handling it, commercially speaking.

Great games are great, but bad timing can kill you.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

The Wii was such a beast of a console. Moved lots of software and hardware. Perhaps one of the best moves by Nintendo.

And it was one of the worst moves for consumers.

Which people started to realise... Hence the Wii's early and fast downfall, as well as the Wii U's relative failure.

I don't think the Wii U's failure has as much to do with the Wii (which lasted about as long as every other Nintendo home console) as it did the fact that the Wii U just didn't feel next gen.  At times, it seemed like an even weaker console than the 2005 Xbox 360.  The library had quality games like Mass Effect 3 and Batman but those were mostly just year old ports of PS3/360 games.  Give credit where credit is due.

Nobody says a thing when The Last of Us, inFamous 2, Little Big Planet, Forza 2, Uncharted 3, Lego Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, etc. are HEAVILY bundled for free.

Nice! Just Dance 3 made it after all.

I was eyeing it. When the DS reached 10x10m as the first platform ever I made my only thread ever in my life here at VGC .

Pretty amazing software sales for Nintendo's games that goes without a doubt.

Well, that's easy.

1.) Wii Sports - It's the game that sold the Wii. It was never bundled in Japan and sold over 3m copies there, so only a complete and utter moron would argue that Wii Sports wouldn't have sold 10m copies as a standalone game.
2.) Mario Kart Wii - Crossed 10m before it got bundled.
3.) Wii Sports Resort - Crossed 10m before it got bundled.
4.) Wii Play - Was never bundled with the console as far as I recall.
5.) New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Crossed 10m before it got bundled.
6.) Wii Fit - Crossed 10m before it got bundled.
7.) Wii Fit Plus - Crossed 10m before it got bundled.
8.) Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Was never bundled with the console as far as I recall.
9.) Super Mario Galaxy - Was never bundled with the console as far as I recall.
10.) Just Dance 3 - Was never bundled with the console as far as I recall.

So it can be safely concluded that those who scream "Bundles!" either suffer from serious butthurt or lack the knowledge to discuss the topic. Of course, butthurt doesn't rule out ignorance or stupidity; these things aren't mutually exclusive.

The argument remains stupid anyway, because if all those game sales came from hardware-bundles why didn't the Wii sell like over 200m units ? Maybe that's a bit simple thinking, but it is what it boils down to. Continuing this simple logic, only 20m (at most) bundles that were not the regular Wii Sports bundle, were sold.

As a side-note I think Wii Sports would have been the best selling game of all-time regardless. People bought Wii Sports as you say, the Wii itself was lucky enough to tag along.
