He does have a point about Mario though; making their big Wii U 3D Mario a 3DS sequel was a bit of a dumb move, a Mario 64 successor was what gamers wanted. |
Would Mario 64-2 really have sold exceptionally better and moved a bunch of hardware? Ya it might have sold 3 million by now instead of 2.5 million and Wii U 8 million instead of 7.8 million. People on forums like to bitch about 3D World not being like other 3D Mario titles but in the long run I really doubt it matters.

I like 3D World, but let's face it, it's not what the mainstream gamer wanted from the first HD 3D Mario.

Based on what? Who are these fabled mainstream gamers u speak of? Like I asked in the last post, would a Mario 64-2 have sold exceptionally better and moved significantly more hardware?

By what amount? 3 million software, 8 million hardware instead or 2.5 & 7.8 million? If Smash Bros, Mario Kart, 3D World, Pikmin, NSMBU, Donkey Kong, Nintendo Land, Wii Party, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, NES Remix, Wind Waker, Hyrule Warriors, Game & Wario, Captain Toad, Wonderful 101,
Lego City combined can't move more than 8 million units of hardware over the course of 2 years than a single open-world 3D Mario title likely won't do a whole lot better.

How should I know what amount? I do know that there was widespread disappointment about 3D World being essentially a HD 3DS game though.

Widespread disappointment among forum goers who don't really represent the general consumer and non-Nintendo gamers who likely would have found a way to be "disappointed" regardless of what direction the game took.

The non-fans expressing disappointment are the kind of gamers Nintendo gamers need to attract if they want to survive in the long term. The kind who played Mario 64 as a kid, then jumped ship to Sony in the 6th gen.

i dont understand how comments like yours come to be.
its not about how stable nintendo is, its about how (un)successful the wii u is/will be.
