What do they do now? The continue supporting and selling the Wii U until the generation is over.

This

Which is the total opposite of what Sega did with the Sega Cd and Saturn by the way.  What killed Sega was the lost of faith from consumers because of their attitudes.

Sure because what else do you have? Zelda has a simple plot and monotone characters. Metroid is kinda cool so I'll give you that. But what's left in their repository? Kirby, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, among others. All those are very simple games, none I would label though-provoking or emotionally powerful.

You don't have much left except for maybe Fatal Frame. Nintendo is simply not a publisher for people who enjoy mature games.

I disagree. Zelda series, Fire Emblem series,  Fatal Frame, Earthbound, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, Xenoblade etc. have extensive plots full of characters crafted with very particular or complex personalities. Fire Emblem Awakening, Skyward Sword, Majora´s Mask, Pokemon Black/White, Xenoblade Chronicles, among others, are full of emotive moments and  certain points evoke even moral matters. It´s all in its story and gameplay elements, not  only in its graphics.

It´s all in the way you want to see things. It seems that you prefer games with movie-like cinematics rather than intriguing stories. Good stories can be told even with no graphics at all (Virtue´s Last Rewards, Hotel Dusk, Ace Attorney etc. etc. etc.)

LOL this line doens't make any sense. He said nothing about liking these games' stories due to their graphics. Why would you assume that anyway?

Fatal Frame is not a Nintendo game. The last one was only published by Nintendo and I'm pretty sure you haven't played it yet to give a valid opinion as to how well written it is. Some Nintendo fans don't even know Fatal Frame is originally a PS2 franchise.

All the games he said  are notorious for its graphics and cinematics rather than for its gameplay elements. I´m talking about games where story are immersed on gameplay and not the opposite. It´s all in the way you see things, as I said.

The three latest Fatal Frame games were published by Nintendo and they own the franchise now (The Wii  and the WiiU games were only published in Japan, though)

Well, whatever you say. I won´t continue to be off-topic

Until Pokemon and Mario games sell more then GTA V (on PS4) (or Assassin's Creed: Unity in total) they are making tons of money.

How can it be beaten by the Dreamcast if it's still selling and some of its biggest games are yet to come out?

Dreamcast sold quicker and yet was still seen as a failure. Begs the question why Nintendo are still flogging a dead horse.

1. Sales and market share aren't all that matters, as a matter of fact they're less important than profits.  Profits are #1 to the business.  It's worthless if the XBox One sells at $50 apiece and grabs up 80% marketshare while selling their consoles at a huge loss

2. Sega and Nintendo are different.  Sega had multiple failures, and did not have any where close to the amount of money Nintendo has.  The Wii, 3DS and DS have made Nintendo plenty of money, plus on top of that their software, almost everything they publish ends up a million seller on the Wii U.

3.  The Dreamcast was already selling for $99 and below at this period of it's life and was on clearance, that's what caused a sales spike towards the end of it's life.

4.  I don't even know why I'm responding to you, hopefully you will actually read and learn something instead of being stubborn.

Nintendo still is profitable but the question is: until when they can sustain being more and more niche? Nintendo seems to be heading to a more and more selective audience and if they want to keep living, they will have to be more open to Smartphone technologies and the 3rd party or else the revenue will keep decreasing until they post results at loss and nothing can be done about it anymore. Decisions are coming Ninty's way, they have to make things right.

Didn't Nintendo post a loss last quarter, which was profitted due to the yen exchange?

I am a mature gamer who likes his mature games. Wii U has one good mature game and that's Bayo 2. I'm not going to pop 300 dollars to play one game.

That's really too bad you restrict yourself in that way.

I'm gonna drop an extended quote from spemanig's sig:

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms.

When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." -C.S. Lewis

Think about this one. I think it'd really serve you well read this over and apply this to your own gaming life.

Invalid. It is a matter of taste. And if Nintendo is incapable of delivering a wide variety of games and styles it is ones choice to dismiss their restrictive offer.

Topic:

Doesn't matter if "Nintendo and SEGA are different". In the end they are up against the same competitor. That's the one factor that counts.

Hunting Season is done...

well... it seems that WiiU is going to beat Dreamcas easily next holidays.

Looking at the sales figures, the Dreamcast, a console widely seen as a failure and the downfall of Sega, sold better than the Wii U to date. As Nintendo has the cash assest to survive a failed console, where will they go from here? It seems that they do not want to adapt to the demands of the modern gamer, and their core user base is smaller than ever. This being said, will this force Nintendo's hand out of the console business just as the Dreamcast did to Sega? How can Nintendo repair the publicity damage the Wii U has done to them in the eyes of gamers?

Do you not know what your comparing. WiiU is about to pass the Dreamcast in lifetime sales. 2 years vs 4 years .

WiiU - Sold 7.92 million in 2 years

Dreamcast - sold 8.2 million In 4 years

Beside Nintendo revenue is fueled by software and Nintendo game are selling much better then Sega on dreamcast.

WiiU compare to Dreamcast is a success just not making as much money has Nintendo expected.

I think they posted ~$200M of profit, not loss.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...
