By what amount? 3 million software, 8 million hardware instead or 2.5 & 7.8 million? If Smash Bros, Mario Kart, 3D World, Pikmin, NSMBU, Donkey Kong, Nintendo Land, Wii Party, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, NES Remix, Wind Waker, Hyrule Warriors, Game & Wario, Captain Toad, Wonderful 101, 
Lego City combined can't move more than 8 million units of hardware over the course of 2 years than a single open-world 3D Mario title likely won't do a whole lot better.

How should I know what amount? I do know that there was widespread disappointment about 3D World being essentially a HD 3DS game though.
