Job System confirmed? Probably not.

I still think they will design this one specifically to disgust me. They're only talking about 5 to get my hopes up. Bastards.

Isn't gambit system kind of a job system ? You define different patterns of abilities probably giving you passive for different situations, just like you would change jobs.

The job system isn't about just switching abilities. It's about learning abilities while being in a job and getting attribute boosts according to the job.

Like it was perfectly implemented in FFV and FFTA and to some extend in FFX-2.

What? I don't see the resemblance. I guess they have a reason to be inspired by 3 and 4 because they've remade it like a kajillion times. I wish the original FF guy, Sakaguchi I think, was still leading FF. After he left, FF lost its way and how coincidental that X was the last game that he worked on for Square. Now, the only hope I have is Dragon Quest and KH. Well, enough ranting. I hope I can see more of the inspiration when the game is shown off more.

3 to 6 are lesser known? Yet these are the games we idealise and want new FFs to be like (you know, jsut with flashy new graphix!!)

According to vocal majorities any FF that is not like VII is worthless.

As far as monster design is concerned it's clearly 3-6, and I hope the OST can be on VI level.

fixed

Weird how majorities don't represent sales.

FFX, XII and XIII all sold more than 50% of FFVII sales.

FFVII sold the most (over 9.8mil), and it is still selling. It is SE most successfull FF. Even today after 17 years, FFVII is relevant.

This just makes me wonder, what are considered the good and bad FF games pre VI?? I mean we never really talk about them, its always about VI-XIII

I think IV is generally considered the best FF released before VI. They aren't talked a lot about though because II, III and V weren't released in the U.S until later.

If that's the case, what do you think of Sakaguchi's way? He's been making mobile games after all of his console titles flopped.

does square really think we are going to fall for this ! this game looks like it was inspired SOLELY by that GARBAGE FFXIII

There is almost nothing in common between FF13 and FF15. You're being ridiculous.

That's what i added about passives. If you're abilities and weapon have passive stats on it, like for example a big sword giving you bonus armor and taunt effect or a scepter giving you bonus magic at the cost of armor, it's the dynamic equivalent of a job system.

As far as leveling is concerned it's possible to do it with separate weapons/abilities level but they will probably pull off something cooler.

Also in the international version you have an actual outlined job system. Which was a great treat when I replayed the game with that version on my PC's emulator a month ago.

You actually just persuaded me to download FFXII international immediatly. Thank you.

Yeah, the job system made it a lot more fun for me. Although you are pushed into a job pretty early, so I can see why for new players it might not be that great.

I'm just saying, after he left then went ATB and the rest of the series. A saying goes that you only get around 10 years in the sun, he had his.

I've realized a few years ago that Final Fantasy was never about the combat system. Every game has a different system with some things in common, even when looking at the turn-based games alone. It's the world and the atmosphere that makes a final fantasy game, not the timing of the battles or the micromanagement system. People who complain about Final Fantasy games going ATB or even fully Action are no different from those who complain about Metroid, Mario, or Zelda going 3D. There will always be turn-based RPG's from SQENIX (Bravely Default and Dragon Quest for example) and plenty of turn-based RPG's not from SQENIX (SMT, Pokemon) I see no problem with FF becoming an action-RPG or hybrid, and don't think every installment will be an action-RPG. The battle system does not matter, as long as it is done well. FFXV looks to be done well.
