Forums - Nintendo - People need to STOP asking for a Wii U with no Gamepad

It is being everything its suppose to be, just cause it do not have a second gamepad do not mean it did not live up to the other things Nintendo said, you have to be careful how you word everything you say about Nintendo because then you have people who do not look up stuff going around thinking Nintendo is missing things, when the only thing they missing is using a second gamepad

Best games depends on people personal perferences, so to respond to what you wrote your still wrong even if you use those two games (Smash and Mario KArt) as examples for why Wii U do not need a Gamepad, theres an article on forbes that was recently written and the writer basically said he loves playing 3rd party games on the Wii U for his article he used Assassin Creed Black Flag, he love how things were set up on the gamepad, people like you and others would see that the gamepad really make some other games better.......this is not the only game there are more, I have over 30 games and I can tell you right now the gamepad give life to games I normally get bored to from last gen because we always played the games in the same way.......I love new ways of playing, I love the gamepad for how it make games better, its okay if you like to play the other way, but anyone I know who actually gave the gamepad and Wii U a chance, will honestly tell you striaght up the Gamepad is the best controller ever made, if the battery life was the same as the Wii U Pro Controller with 80 hours, it would of went down as the best controller ever made........The Wii U pro controller a good controller too, the battery life alone put it as my second favorite controller of all time, if it did not have that 80 hour battery life, I probably would of pick something else as my second favorite.......it still makes me wonder how Nintendo can find a way to make their Wii U Pro Controller last for 80 hour and the ps4 and xbox one cant even do 20 percent of that

I know. Miyamoto working with Platinum on the next Star Fox would be a dream come true - Platinum seems to be good at making a game like this, but I think they could sometimes go a bit too insane with their ideas and that's when Miyamoto comes in and keeps everything on the right course. But nah, it's never going to happen.

Seriously though, the hack n slash and "customize your own animal" parts don't really sound all that great to me. Even the prequel story involving James I'm a bit unsure about, but it would be awesome if it was just a bonus after playing through the whole game.

And about the music... as unmemorable as most of Assault's score was to me, I really wish they bring back the Space Battleground theme, it was absolutely brilliant. I think we can all expect a couple of themes from Star Fox and Star Fox 64 to return (Meteo's a certainty I'd guess), but I just don't think there'll be anything from Assault and it'd be sad to miss out on the fantastic track.

Most of the best tracks in Assault were orchestrations of classic Star Fox tunes. Star Wolf's theme is nothing short of jaw dropping there.

The "customize you own animal" thing was only a suggestion for your avatar in a competitive online multiplayer mode, since it would break canon for me to play as player story characters during the multiplayer like that.

The hack n slash bit is just because platinum is so good at those games, obviously, and they've already done a similar thing with Revengance. Star Fox would lend itself so well to light saber combat, in my opinion. It would totally fit the world.

Yeah they really do need to stop. A WiiU without the Gamepad now would be stupid, it should have been removed well before launch.

No, a Wii U without a gamepad now would be at least $80 less with an almost as useful, yet superior in literally every other way pro controller.

Instead of forcing the Upad on people, they should try and make people want it.

ITs like I wrote before, if people give the controller a honest chance, I am talking about a fully honest chance, not someone who put the controller in their hand looking for reasons to hate it......if someone did get a honest chance and actually have the system for a day or two they will want it

True story. The GamePad, for all intents and purposes, is a bad ass controller. It has NO major flaws or drawbacks, unless you want to argue size, which isn't ideal, but even that you get over after awhile, due to how light the damn thing is.

It provided, to ME anyway, the best, most functional and most comfortable combination of d-pad, analogs, and buttons that any modern controller since the SNES has. It throws in the awesome bonus of having a LARGE touch screen, which also allows you to treat the controller both as a second screen for some games, as well as treating the controller itself as a semi-portable TV, so you can play your home console (or eShop) games in comfort in your living room, even while your roommate/family is watching TV or even playing another system. Yeah, the system to controller range COULD be larger, that would certainly be nice, but at the same time, that kind of tech is new/novel enough and convenient enough already, that you really can't complain TOO much.

Plus the touch-screen aspect itself is SUPER useful when it comes to map/item screen/menu navigation, not having to pause the game (for games that are designed to take advantage of that), not to mention the fact that it makes having to input words or browning the internet from your console MUCH more convenient. You can pause effectively pause your game, and go look up GameFaqs or Youtube real quick on the same console, to help you in the game you're currently playing. Not necessary, but super useful.

Outside of all THAT, it also has the extra bells and whistles, such as 9-axis motion sensing, a NFC reader built in, a mic, speakers AND camera in the controller, with nice volume control, I mean it's not all totally necissary stuff, again, and not every developer/game is going to or even HAS to use it all, but it's awesome that it's there. And if that weren't enough, for the super picky out there, Nintendo DOES still provide you with controller options, from the new Pro Controller, to the Wiimote, to the Classic Controller via Wiimote, etc. The kinds of functionality that the GamePad alone offers, plus the additional controller options the Wii U also offers the gamer.....no other system or competition offers that, period.

The camp of folks who have insisted from day one that the Wii U would somehow magically have sold way better if it had a "normal" controller, have always been laughable at best. The GamePad offers FAR more than it could possibly detract, and as I pointed out, it in all blunt honesty has very little about it you can really, fairly criticize. It works great, has tons of built in features and functionality....Nintendo really did good by themselves on the controller end.

Again, the ONLY thing that really hurt Wii U in that first year, a hurt which we are still feeling echoes of today thanks to most major third parties apparently abandoning ship, was misjudging their own development cycles and not having a steady enough flow of games out that first year. Even 2014 had it's burps where it seemed there wasn't a new retail game coming for a bit. 2015 looks as if it just MIGHT manage to have a full, steady game flow, what with: Yoshi, Kirby, Splatoon, Devil's Third, Mario Maker, Mario Party 10, Mario vs. DK, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox (if it's any good), Zelda, and possibly even STM x FE and (if rumors are to be believed) Animal Crossing.

I think the Wii U will be supported pretty steadily at LEAST through 2017, honestly, and that's good, because as an owner I want my money's worth, and I want at least a good solid 5+ years with my console. Between Nintendo retail titles, and the glut of great eShop content coming out (seriously, Wii U really does have one of the best digital platforms now of anything this side of Steam, with a pretty amazing slate of stuff, that keeps getting larger all the time, coming down the pipeline), I think Wii U owners will be just fine. If major third parties feel like getting back on board, well great. If they don't? Well.....you can either own other systems too, or honestly.....who needs em? Most of those so-called "AAA" blockbuster titles are not always worth their hype anyway.

But regardless of all of that, no, the GamePad isn't nor has it ever been Wii U's problem. If anything, it's one of the best things about the system.

This guy gets it about the controller

That might be, but there are still people who just dont like the idea of it. Nintendo hasnt been good at showing people why they should like it either though...

I agree with you, the WiiU gamepad is fine, makes unique the console, it feels right in your hands, is very light and has some cool functionalities, it´s just the people don´t give it a f**** chance, lots of people thinks the gamepad is huge and heavy, and you have to be looking both the tv and the gamepad everytime and things like that, if they just play some games they´ll discover than even if they aren´t exciting for the gamepads functionalitis, is actually confortable and works fine, you just need a few hours to get used to it if you are very conservative. And I preffer when the gamepad is use for little things like the interface, the menus, the maps, is very usefull for games like Zelda.

That doensn't matter. People don't want it, and they aren't going to want it. I love the gamepad when it's utilized, but I understand why someone wouldn't want to pay $80 extra for it. They shouldn't be forced to buy it just to enjoy Wii U games they wouldn't use it on anyway. It should be optional, not a mandatory part of the system.

Thanks God someone who agrees with me xD
