Forums - Gaming - Zelda on the Wii U looks a lot similar to Shadow of the Colossus

Its funny how people only accuse sony of copying other franchises like we have seen with the uncharted 4 footage which people said it was ripping off tomb raider.
But it never gets pointed out if a sony game is inspiring other games. For me the newest zelda is reminding me a lot of shadow of the colossus. especially riding trough empty environment. Zelda was never about that or at least it wasnt the main focus of the game.

Opinions ?

"Zelda on the Wii U looks a lot similar to Shadow of the Colossus", and the Shadow of the Colossus looks a lot similar to Zelda.

Zelda looks a lot similar to Skyrim? Skyrim looks a lot similar to Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones looks a lot similar to Medival Europe, Medival Europe looks a lot similar to real history..... Hold on a second......

Does that mean that Everything with horses and mountains is a massive rip off of Medival Europe? I think we all need to lighten up and enjoy our favorite games. Artists take inspiration from something that they have seen before. Nothing is 100% original.

Just because it has a huge world and horse AI it's a ripoff? That's asinine. Zelda U is taking the world design and approach to dungeons what the ORIGINAL ZELDA did in 1986. Even the top down overview of Zelda U closely resembles the world on NES. Only game Zelda U is taking inspiration from is itself. Oh wanna know something. The entire idea for SoTC climbing bosses like that was thought up by Nintendo for Zelda OoT. N64 just was not able to handle it. So they later used the idea in MP2 and SMG.

Looks to be inspired by previous Zelda games to me...

It's funny to me that people on both sides think the principle inspiration for riding horses and fighting giant monsters must have come from another video-game.

So every open world game with a horse is an instant SotC/Sony rip off? Or every open world game with a horse made by Nintendo is an instant SotC/Sony rip off? Sony gamers always complain about everything Nintendo does since you don't say anything about Red Dead Redemption/Skyrim or other empty open world games. It is starting to piss me off. Whatever Nintendo copies or not, it will never be comparable to what Sony did:

I actually think Zelda U is supposed to be a 3D version of the first Zelda game!

Pretty much this. It would seem that Zelda is returning to its roots as an open world free-roaming game. At least, that's what I'm hoping for. I still think that the original LoZ is the best. I think.... Maybe...

Well, of course! Aonuma himself said that he is using the original Zelda as inspiration for Zelda U!

Yeah, that doesn't really mean anything. Aunoma is always talking the talk, but can't always walk the walk...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

This. But probably grassy plains and stony mountains can only be copied from other games. There exists no other inspiration!

If we must compare it other games then I'd say it looks like what happens if Ocarina of Time meets TES: Oblivion.
