If you're thinking of buying an xbox one, you should wait on that because of ms's willingness to cut prices this much so early into the console's lifespan. You can probably get it even cheaper or with more games included if you wait another 6 months or so. Has nintendo done any price cuts for the wii u since it's launch?

You ask as if the Xbox division will have a choice, which I highly doubt. The real power and money at Microsoft is not with the Xbox division and the investors and executives of the company as a whole more than likely are not interested in an original Xbox situation where all the Xbox division does is hemorrhage money for years on end. If we assume - and I think it is safe to do so - that the Xbox One was being sold at break-even or a small loss at $400, then that means that now they are losing at minimum $50 per sale. And possibly more, if they were taking a larger loss at $400. People say bigger install base means bigger profits in the long run, but you have to consider that if they lose too much money gaining that install base, the profits may not come in fast enough to offset the losses by the end of the gen.
No, I think that they will have no choice but to raise the price back up for a time to mitigate the damage. Their earnings report is already likely to be abysmal, but at least raising the price will keep it from being any worse. So I say, expect $400 again at least until summer, possibly next holiday and then the price will go to $350 permanently, as production costs will likely have decreased enough to cause the price to fall naturally.
| nintendro said: If there is a new 1TB sku, yes 399$ They will cut the free game bundle (AC was always only intendet for chistmas) and leave the price tag at 349 for the regular 500GB green Xbox One That's something i can see. |
This seems highly likely. Or something similar to it. If they can offer a different SKU with added value at $399 and say the remaining bundled SKUs are $349 while supplies last, they can maintain their demand through January.

At the end of the day MS is no longer in control of the price point. Retailers are, and they aren't going to raise the price again. Especially with places like Walmart popping up all over the world where people can literally go in with one of the many advertisements from the holidays with the console at the lowered price and get them to match the price. Once they lower the price once, it might as well be lowered for ever.

I think they will make an official price cut at E3 2015 --> 349.99 dollars in the US, 349.99 Euros in the European markets, and a hundred forty...no...two hundred seventy nine pounds in the UK.
if they keep the same price with the holiday price, good for consumer then they will just wait for the price for next 2 years and it will be a bargain price.

No way they go back to the original price after the holidays.
Xb one sales would die in the USA if they hiked the price back up. What they will probably do is start restocking the vanilla xb one at $350 hence a permanent price cut, but bump ACU bundle up to $399. Or they will launch a 1TB sku at $399 as their base sku.
There is simply no way xb one 500GB with no bells and whistles is going back to $399. MS needs to win USA, otherwise the entire enterprise will be seen as a failure and it puts the future of the console in jeopardy from opposition within MS.
