Again, if there were 5 times as many islands, sure.

I was going to respond to this and your sebsequent posts, but another poster has already said exactly what I would have said and actually grasps the connection I am making.

You're correct, that is an absurd statement you chose to put in quotations. It's funny how I NEVER SAID THAT, though.
You do realize that Zelda isn't a hill climbing simulator, renowned for it's realistic depictions of hill climbing, right? Terrain differences in a Zelda game are mostly aesthetic and don't affect the core gameplay that much. And this still doesn't refute that sailing the Great Sea and travelling the new Hyrule Field are going to be functionally similar to the travel and pacing of Wind Waker as it will be in Zelda U.

There has been nothing from any of the Zelda U footage to suggest this kind of emptiness.

That image presents two actions during gameplay if it were like that in Zelda U, which it isn't; Riding Epona, and climbing a cliff. That's it, and there'd be an exponencially larger amount of riding Epona then climbing. That's the poster child for sailing on grass. Sail to an island with a cliff, climb the cliff, sail the rest of the way.
Oh wait. There are hills.
Now the water is particularly wavy on the way back, I guess.
No difference in gameplay. Complete difference in aesthetic. You're doing the same thing for the same amount of time. In fact, if Zelda U were actually like that, you'd be doing the "boring" part for longer.
Hey mr assumptions, stop with the assumptions.

Guess you missed the parts of the demo where there were specific paths leading up rocky mountainsides, facilitating exploration to get to the top. And these and other features are not even remotely close to being as far apart as Wind Waker's islands:

Except for the new footage of Hyrule Field and the knowledge of how the field has functioned in almost every 3D Zelda ever made.
You know, that little tid bit of information we have.

Please show me a Zelda U pic with the level of emptiness of the above Wind Waker pic.
