If it's not them being high, it's them being far too happy for their own good. It's like they don't know the concept of pain or stress when they speak.

Well, they are by far the highest paid employees in Japan more than doubling second highest: Sony employees. So that might have something to do with it.

They need to feel some pain to get them thinking straight.

Exactly, the same with Ubisoft.
They need to suffer to learn to treat the customer decently.

I really hope this PC port to PS4 is a major flop.

But we need to find a way that the message will actually get across them though.  This is the most important thing.

And you know what?  Now that we more fully understand their POV, in that it's money, money, money, we can do this ourselves if we can just pass this on.  If anybody knows how to get to even a guy that knows a guy that can contact SE, we will spam that person to death or die trying!

In this thread http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=194727&page=1#

I responded with a way of thinking that they might consider undertaking:

"God, if they're that concerned about money they should realize that partnering with Sony exclusively with main FF titles would help them out immensely. Sony would cover all the costs of production for an exclusive FF game and they would probably get better sales as opposed to if they stay multiplatform. You'd also think they would realize that customer retention is more important than customer acquisition. By focusing on high quality, the new customers will come aboard slowly but surely and you'll still have your hardcore base as well. Surely they factor in long term growth."

If they're so concerned about money no matter what, then as a hardcore Japanese developer they would need to consider their fanbase.

They haven't been doing too well casually anyways it seems.  Casual handheld gamers usually lose interest after a while and they tend to react more negatively to bad quality games than hardcore gamers do by just disregarding certain games completely and moving on.   They have 1/3 sales I believe from everything that isn't console based as was said in a recent sales report.

Hashimoto was oblivious. He thought he was announcing something epic. You can see how proud he is from how he presented the announcement. I think another aspect that might gone wrong is translation. He might have thought that people really wanted FF7 in it's original form for the Ps4 and Sony must have relayed that message to him that way when they asked him to announce something for PsX. It's impossible for Square to be the one who actually decided to announce that on stage. It was Sony who asked them to.

Perhaps the biggest kick in the nuts by a company to its fanbase I have ever seen. Went from giddy to pissed in a couple seconds.

WHAT?? O_O

Offering fans more platforms to play the game = kick to the nuts??

This is why people scream entitled my friend.

We should just stop supporting them no matter what.
I'm only getting games from them if I think they really deserve it, like Far Cry 4 and Final Fantasy 15 (appears to be).
We need to boycott every game they release that doesn't show to have quality as a major vision.

Of course money is what drives everything, they need money, everyone needs it, specially if we are waiting them to deliver big project they will need more and more money, but delivering fucked products with no sense of quality attached on it... how they approve of it?
Square was once the most loved gaming company in the whole world! How could them let themselves drop this low?

And here's the thing we can do: They think (according to that thread I posted a link to showing Matsuda's mindset) that high profitability is more important than high quality.  We can show them that based on their past, their current outlook in the gaming industry, and the appeal they have for certain specific types of gamers that high quality CAN equal high profitability.

It's true for SE too.  Their higher quality games overall (give or take a few preferences) have been their most profitable: FF7-10, 11, 12, ARR.

Yeah, I know X-2, 13, and 13-2 were also highly profitable, but gamers are getting wise on them now.  LR barely broke 1 million so there's some good news.

So wait, what's wrong with the port?

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Those damn SE trolls knew very well what they were doing!

I can relate with Max so much, with all the rumours and hype and seeing the title appear. I was so sure it was happening.

They're trolls and they know it.
