Forums - Sony - I'm convinced it's impossible to deliver impressive graphics today

Its just that these consoles are a bit underpowered when compared to when other new consoles came out.. I do think they'll max out these consoles waaay faster so we won't have a gigantic gap from first to last games on these consoles..

People have the right to their own opinions and expectations.

Then maybe devs should stop hyping people up saying how amazing it will look. Seriously they did the same thing with TLOU R.

Anyone saying it looks like a PS3 remaster is just trolling. We have a remastered PS3 game on the PS4, conveniently enough from the same developer. I doubt anyone without an agenda would try to argue that TLOU:R looks equal, or even close to UC4 :p

Anyway, yeah, it is pretty much impossible. Not just because of the existence of top tier PC hardware, but because people are so unreasonable with their expectations these days. It's impossible to please everyone. You make a title like QB or TO:1886 and people will complain it's too linear or not 60fps. You target 1080p/60fps or try to create large open areas with a HLOD, and people will complain it doesn't meet the standards of titles that target neither.

On a side note, UC4 did have some pretty visible performance issues. That's to be expected though, considering how far from release it is. I don't think it was entirely ready to be shown, but they must have felt it was important to have it at PSX.

That is one stunning looking game right there.

Something that baffles me is that nobody considers this a highly compressed steam of live gameplay footage of an unfinished game? The some for Zelda (which we only saw off-screen)?

I mean... really?

I felt the same way though...the facial tech is really impressive but other than that it didn't seem to impressive.

That being said PS3 wouldn't be able to handle such a big open level with all that detail at 1080p.

The huge open and non-linear levels with plenty of verticality combined with the great graphics was what impressed me.

The grass though, there was a lot of foliage with physics to boot. That was impressive as well.

Seriously, so does every other dev. Oh my a developer hyping their own game. You act as if you're actually surprised by this.

The game does look amazing, anyone saying otherwise is either blind or just trolling. The level of detail on the vegetation is incredible. The animations are the best I've ever seen in a video game. Facial animation are superbly detailed and to think this game isn't releasing until November 2015 most likely.

There's tons of games that have blown me away in terms of graphics. Quantum Break, Uncharted 4, Order 1886 etc. I don't know what ridiculous expectations some of you people have but from what I've seen so far this early on in the generation, I am more than impressed.

No game in an online video looks as good as on your console, that said compare Tomb Raider Legend (start of 7th gen) to Tomb Raider (end of gen) the difference is noticeable but a good PS2 game wasn't that different from a poor PS3 game.

The new thing in graphics this gen is lighting effects, people need to get over graphics anyway.

Hmm, pie.
