Forums - Sony - I'm convinced it's impossible to deliver impressive graphics today

Sadly people always have to nitpick and find something wrong with games nowadays. Why can't we ever praise a game? People need to seriously quit bitching all the time.

@zekkyou -- don't get me wrong, the graphics are beautiful but ND promised us from the initian reveal that those graphis were graphics running in rela time and that that was a captured from level on the ps4. The ones revealed so far, doesn't even come close to that initial reveal. Even nathan drakes face from that pic you loaded to the one shown at the gameplay reveal, that alone shows quite a bit of downgrade.

I really don't see what's different about him, apart from the difference in added affects (wetness/dirt etc). Certainly nothing that could justify a statement like "doesn't even come close".

Open these in full screen and compare the detail difference between the close up of Drake and his brother:

Notice they have the same quality of facial hair, same quality of texturing mapping for the pores and wrinkles, same quality of tessellation applies to the facial angles (no obvious polygons angles).

On an asset by asset basis, what is being shown is literally identical. I can't see a single downgrade, or upgrade for that matter.

They're right though. The game is nothing special and it's amazing anyone thinks it is. At this point I feel as if it is a Naughty Dog effect. The moment they release a game it is met with graphical praise. Regardless if it actually deserves it or not.

LOL I love all of your past comments being full of Playstation bashing.  Uncharted 4, just like TLoU and the rest of the Uncharted games, will get universal praise that it deserves.  Get over it.

Maybe ND games just aren't your cup of tea.  After all we all have different tastes.  Some people like Steak cooked Rare (ND games), and some people like deep-fried butter.

Depends on the game really... I am always impressed by "artistic" graphics over realistic graphics cause games like MK8 and No Man's Sky continue to impress me more than a lot of other realistic games do...

Don't get me wrong, UC4 looks fantastic, specially the graphics, but I mean, the mods that people can do on PC are pretty fantastic and we have already seen some amazing graphics on PC already... Obviously ND has their own tricks to make UC4 look epic but when you have Skyrim Mods and games like Starcitizen out there, its very hard to be zomfg impressed with anything really...

I think the word you are looking for is stylised. Uncharted games too have a distinct stylised visual design, and not going completely into realistm (side of the scale). Hence why the previous 2 games have aged quite well, graphically.

I'm pretty sure if they show the same part again, the one teased at E3, the very same one, people will say it's looking not that good anymore. I'M SURE.

Considering this gameplay looks as good as that teaser trailer, you are right.  Some people just want to go against the crowd and say "They can't see what's so great" whether it is because they are jaded, or are backing up some chip on their shoulder that they are unique.

I thought it looked really good for a game that is probably a year from being released.

As usual with these things it is worth downloading the uncompressed footage if you can. The frame rate which seemed highly variable in the Youtube stream (must be an encoding issue or something) looks pretty solid in the uncompressed version. Nice looking game.

Take a look at this GAF thread:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=946564

See how a bunch of people complain the game doesn't look impressive. Not gameplay mind you, that's arguably subjective. No, apparently, the game's graphics are "just ok", and "looks like a PS3 remaster". Some people even spotted framerate drops to below 30. They're able to notice framerate drops of a game being displayed through a highly compressed stream, but nevermind that.

After this, I'm done. I'm fully convinced no game ever released will ever impress these people (which are just snobs the way I see it).

What you are seeing are just jealous people and trolls, because every person I know was flipping out about how amazing it looked.

It would take a very powerful PC to run Uncharted, and there's no way Xbone could run it unless they removed all the grass and plants and dropped it to 720p.

Not everyone is drinking that Naughty Dog kool aid. Whoever said it earlier in the thread is right, we've reached a point where there is a "naughty dog" effect where people over rate the shit out of the graphics.

imho this trailer graphics wise just looked like a typical next gen game. Which is fine. It still has a year or so in the oven.

This Naughty Dog Kool Aid tastes great. Drake approves

Well those pictures are goddamn awful first off.
