Really why 4 before 6?

Most RE fans think 4 is the epitome of the series, whereas 6 is the biggest fail. They probably want you to endure what they had to.

I've liked all Resident Evil games, excluding the FPS ones. (Though I loved the on-rail Umbrella games!) I'm glad you're enjoying the series :)

*glares at you from across the thread*

What can I say...I absolutely loved 5 and enjoy playing 6 over and over.

I'm hyped for Revelations 2...does that makes you feel less uneasy?

Nah, it doesn't really bother me if people like 5 or 6. 5 was actually one of my favourite games of last gen, it's just such a downgrade compared to everything else in the series...apart from maybe 0. 5 was better than 0.

I'm actually not thrilled for Revelations 2 at all. I just wish they'd take the series out for a nice dinner, give it one last kiss, and then take it around the back of the barn and blow it's brains out.

I think I will wait for it to go on sale again, it's still $20 :S

Well, Capcom isn't on a great financial situation right now. Biohazard is the biggest thing they still hold. Of course, I'd rather have them doing Dragon's Dogma 2 (There's rumors of that!) or a new Dead Rising (that'd be glorious!), but priorities come first.

Resident Evil 6 also has the bonus of offering offline co-op for both campaign and extra modes. Just like 5, that is a great bonus in my eyes, which also made me enjoy the game even more playing it with a buddy. If only Chris' arm didn't take like half of the splitscreen... -_-"

5 is actually a good action game, but don't feel like RE at all, and 6 had some good ideas but was mostly boring.
The thing is, until RE4, it was a survival horror franchise, now it's action.
1-3 was all dark and mysterious, with real zombies.
4 was still dark, still mysterious and with a great adventure feeling (some people started disliking it since 4, but it's the best one), and with some rpg elements (increasable life, weapon improvements, treasure "hunting", shops).
5 and 6 were not even close to how good 4 was, so that plus the lack of survival horror feeling like the old ones make people don't like it that much.

Again, 5 is a good action game, but having RE as it name make it seems bad.

He needs the big arms so he can take revenge on the boulders :P

I think the coop actually ruined RE5. Apart from the fact that Sheva's AI is ridiculously awful, the original footage before idiots started calling the game racist and CAPCOM shoehorned Sheva in to appease people actually looked so much better. Much scarier, more tense, and thicker mobs of enemies. It could have been so much more, which is why it bugs me :/

They get hate because RE went from survival horror to action. Personally, i enjoyed 4, 5 and 6. While the lose of horror was disappointing, the controls and overall gameplay improved x10 compared to the PS1 games and Code veronica.

Do you know where revelations 2 will fit into the story?

I’ve just started with the resident evil series after the steam sale recently. I was told to start with revelations and so on to 5 and 6.

Someone told you to skip RE4? 失敗する

The thing about RE5 is that it grew on me. At first I didn't like it much due to it's changes. There was no longer any backtracking. You don't find a key to a a locked door you had passed earlier and have to go back. It was now very linear, from point A to B without many branching paths. And even though I never imagined that I'd be bothered by a RE games story, which is not to be taken seriously anyway, loe and behold, I was.

But as I kept replaying it, I found it's charm lies with the co-op along with a friend. And that was really really fun. And after playing Resident Evil 6, a game I at the time couldn't imagine being worse than RE5, it actually made RE5 look really good in comparison. They tried to do new things with RE 6, but it just didn't feel right to me. Parts of Chris' campaign feels like a Call of Duty game.

My favorite RE games are 4 and 2.
But I wouldn't recommend jumping into 2 as a newcomer due to it being a very old game with old mechanics. I don't see why you'd want to skip 4 though, as it's one of the modern RE games.

It seems to be set in 2011. Not sure what that means in terms of RE timeline.
