I heard Nintendo is working on Metroid 3d and 2d so the 3d one will probably be for the wiiU.

What do you mean by "proper" 3D game? Because technically even Tropical Freeze is one.

Star Fox, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Wonderful 101, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and several others are true 3D titles, just because they're not specifically 3D adventures with open worlds it doesn't mean they're not. In fact I really fail to see where you can even consider Xenoblade not one.

And regardless, I'm glad Zelda is the only one like this. Nintendo always tries to keep different gameplay styles within their different franchises, and that's good because it avoids repetition. Zelda Wii U will be a fantastic adventure across a vast world, and I don't need a clone of it - last time I remember Nintendo trying to shove in Zelda elements in other franchises it ended up as a very underwhelming GameCube title.

Hey now, Star Fox Adventures was awesome! :P I hated the last boss though, too hard. The music was awesome though.

There will almost certainly be a more traditional 3D Mario game (something in the vein of Galaxy or Sunshine) and a Prime-style Metroid game. So no, I don't think Zelda U will be the only one.

God, I hope not.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

Shigeru Miyamoto

Define traditional 3D.

I agree DK, Mario Bros and Smash arent as they play on 2D planes. Mario 3D World is semi 3D but not much less than Galaxy 2.

Captain Toad is 3D by all definitions.
Xenoblade is 3D by all definitions.
W101 is 3D in a fixed camera angle.
Splatoon is 3D by all definitions.
Mario Kart is 3D but is a racing game.

There will definitely be another core Mario game on Wii U.

I honestly don't understand the question. "Traditional" 3D? Platoon is as 3D as it can get. Mario Kart isn't stuck on a fixed path. Star Fox is. You can go in whatever direction you want in Mario Kart.

That being said, maybe you want more 3D adventure games? I dunno. Whatever you want, I'm hoping for a Star Fox game with gameplay that's a combination of Bayonetta's hack n slash gameplay and Vanquish's TPS sections when on foot. I'm also hoping for a Metroid game with a third person lock on camera. (much like that in Zelda) Also hoping for a 3D Donkey Kong game that is actually good and focuses on platforming rather than collecting.

This is an asinine topic that makes no sense. To answer the question no. For the trillionth time Monolith is 1st party as much as Rare is 1st for MS. Monolith has two studios. One that makes RPGs like Xenoblade and the other studio is part of Nintendo EAD and works on games like Zelda,Mario Kart and other well known IP's.

By 3D I assume you mean open-world 3D games were the camera tracks behind the player (like Mario 64) in a 3D environment.

I think that case

Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Zelda U, Zelda: Wind Waker, LEGO City, Xenoblade, apply.

I suspect there is an Amiibo Universe type of game that will fit this bill too.

But under your criteria, Nintendo themselves only made handful of 3D games for the N64 -- Mario 64, Zelda: OoT, Zelda: MM and uh ... well you can't count 1080, Wave Race, or Mario Kart because by your definition those aren't 3D adventure games. Yoshi's Story is 2D.

Holy crap, I never realized there aren't any legitimate 3D games, but you're right.

I hope Zelda isn't the only one, but it definitely could be considering the games Nintendo has already released. We could still potentially get a Metroid, though.

Yes and yes again for a Metroid Prime. Just THINKING about a proper HD adventure with Retro behind it, gaming with dual analog sticks? Just get me a towl...

I don't know if I call it traditional 3D. To me traditional 3D is real style gfx not a cartoon world.

But if you talking free moving camera 360, then perhaps (not counting the calibration projects with 3rd parties).
