So I assume anyone disagreeing that price is the main factor for buying consoles, has never worked retail. Because I love retail and most of my working career has been in retail and kowen is exactly right. In terms of the mainstream/mass market, price is easily the #1 factor. The start of this gen should be all the evidence anyone needs. Or what happened to the PS3 last gen until Sony started dropping that price.
Is anyone going to try and say that the PS4 launch lineup was just that much better than the Xbox One? Or that the common every day gamer was just that hesitant to buy a slightly less powerful console? It was the price. Games are second. Of course, for hardcore gamers, it could easily be the opposite. Though there are naturally some hardcore guys who game on a budget.

Exclusive XOne games didn't sell nearly as expected. NA and UK do care more about games like GTAV and COD.
I would say the reason is because of these 3 factors : Price cut, free games, very cheap price. That's all. Once the fire sales are over, all will be back to standard.

Expected by who? :) Xbox One exclusives sold very well based on the user base. Also when Jay is talking about Exclusive Games he is not talking about sales but about the "perception" of the person who wants to buy a next gen console. And the Xbox One is offering a very good and competitive amount of AAA exlusives.

By people who don't game on the Xbox One, of course! The same people who said Titanfall was supposed to sell a billion units and win the whole generqation for Microsoft in one fell swoop. No Xbox One game is ever going to satisfy their sales expectations ;)
