It seems more logical for a nintendo fan to say PS4, if they buy their consoles for games exclusive to one platform and japanese games, they will love PS4

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

well i have played uncharted 2, which is usually held up as the peak of "adventure" offerings on ps3, and tbh i came away underwhelmed, but not nearly as much as when I played tlou. adventure =/= interactive movie spliced together by passably mediocre gameplay. you're right cod is the greatest offender (press square to win), but so are the yearly assassin's creeds and the like. the only other adventure game from a third party i can think of as being decent is the tomb raider reboot, and that's now a timed ms exclusive and largely cut from the same cloth as uncharted.

now i will admit i'll play any of these games over crackdown, gears and halo 5000 the cortana collection (now with functional matchmaking!) any day of the week. but not joyfully, and certainly not with the kind of satisfaction the best games provide, which comes not so much from the story as from the gameplay mechanics.

i'm not saying games like that. Uncharted and the last of us are linear adventures and couples with their online are great games. Especially the LAst of us. That online is unique and i completed the 14 weeks twice on it.

I mean proper adventure games like far cry 4, even GTA 5 or shadow of mordor would be more adventurus than the uncharted games because you explore a big detailed world instead of following a path.

There is more good adventure games on Sony/MS consoles than nintendo platforms such as far cry 4 or dragon age inquisition. there are a lot of games like that and for the world to be big, detailed and graphically good you need the PS4 or the X1. You just don't get games like that from Nintendo consoles. Nintendo offer some top top games but they are much fewer due to the fact they need to make most of them and they are much more basic due to the weaker consoles they run on. Obviously you and many others prefer their games, i'm just in the group that prefers the games on the ps4 ( a lot of the best being 3rd party).

not going to argue with you about the quantity. there's no question there are more open-world games of the sort you seem to be referring to. this is usually not what people mean by adventure, tho--they've sort of become their own sub-genre (sandbox/open-world action/adventure/shooter/rpg?). anyway, i played mordor a little while back, tbh it's an lotr-themed assassin's creed 2 reskin. which is not a bad thing b/c ac2 was probably the best ac game, but still. gta i don't feel has evolved in its basic structure or its sandbox-y gameplay since gta3 on the ps2. i haven't enjoyed a gta game since as much as i did vice city, but that was mostly because the new-wavey setting/music and the miami vice theme was so hilariously bad it was good.

these seem to me to be glorified map-clearing exercises rather than games. i can def appreciate those things, but i feel as tho the gameplay has not really changed in any substantial way. for some of them (gta, far cry, etc) skill doesn't even matter. anybody could play them, whereas precision is demanded by metroid and zelda (and castlevania and so on). i feel like i often have to try to get killed in gta, even.

a world with just nintendo and xbox would be perfect

it's not silly at all. The Wii U could run most adventure games to an enjoyable level. Black Flag an example. It's problem is developers don't bother making their games for it. But power is very important. I wouldn't enjoy a single adventure game on the 3DS or PSVita because they are too basic for me. Play Far Cry 4 on the PS4 on a 55" Bravia and nothing comes close graphically on the Wii U. Those grahics really ad to the sense if adventure.

If the devs don't make games for it, but the console can run most adventure games at an enjoyable level, then the reason the games aren't being made is more likely a business decision (not saying it's a good or bad one). Ultimately the U is perfectly adequate for adventure games but bottom line it all depends on your value system. If graphics are everything then sure the U won't be enough, but for more adventure fans I would say that story, art direction and worlds are the most important part of a game. For that reason I could still greatly enjoy a game like A Link to the Past or Warcraft III or what have you, even though they are older games. I mentioned War 3 because even though it's not an adventure game, the art style is awesome.

this. & add wind waker, super mario world, metroid prime, yoshi's island, super metroid etc. to that list. also luigi's mansion: dark moon on the 3ds is one of the best adventure games in recent memory. but again, not open-world or gorgeous-looking (though no slouch in the looks department given the platform), so maybe not what kerotan would classify as proper adventure.

if Sony didn't exist neither would your avatar. What would you do if you weren't able to personally advertise the best game ever made!

I'd want MS to win cause they've never won before.

Nintendo aren't my #1, but I still consider myself a Nintendo fan.

PS4, by far.

I should note I have no love for either of them - I consider them both extremely uninspiring pieces of hardware.

Nevertheless, it's not even close. PS4 wins every single department between the two that I can see. More powerful, better games, nicer looking console etc. etc. I don't know what the USP is for Xbox One, other than Halo I guess. Granted, I don't really know what it is for PS4 either, but again that's when we go back to the earlier point of how it wins on pretty much any comparison.

Xbox fans, I'd genuinely love for you to tell me what the USP is of your console of choice. Why is it better than PS4? I'm interested to hear your side of the argument.

I'd have to disagree about you ultimitely having better adventure games. While I agree about the Wii U being able to run most games you're going to have a decent down grade for the mor intense ones. That will take away from the imersiveness of the adventure but it's not a major deal, I agree.

But you can't say the Wii U is better for adventure games. I mean look what the PS4 has that the Wii U doesn't. Dragon Age, Far Cry, Shadow of Mordor, The WItcher 3, Next Final Fantasy, The Last of US, GTA 5, Unity, Infamous second son, trine 2, tomb raider, diablo 3, final fantasy 14, metro last light, metro 2033, the walking dead games, the wolf among us games, borderlands will be coming and countless more on the way. ames like uncharted 4, no mans sky, silent hills, resident evil revelations 2.

I'm sorry but the PS4 is just a better adventure platform. Nintendo excell in other areas better than Sony but not here. They are better with fighting games and platformers.

Ps4, you don't even need to ask.

why ? Because jap games are much more interesting than occ games for me.

And japanese games are...? On nintendo consoles, and on sony consoles.
