Sony don't care about it clearly but they won't get rid of either. It will just carry on hidden

This is what I see.

Vita is kind of that friend that follows you around and is weird but doesn't really bother you so you just let him tag along.

Are you calling me a Vita?? =P

The problem has always been expensive memory cards. There's nothing wrong with the device itself. It's just way too expensive.

You know that PSP had also super expensive memory card it didn't stop it from selling well

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

This is what Sony needs though, well from 3rd parties anyway. Otherwise Vita's devs will end up on mobile and HDS

It depends of how many Vitas are in inventory. I believe sony will allocate almost all vitas to japan and then wait until the ran out of it.

Vita is done for. Sony has to move all of its mobile presence to the Xperia line. I expect to see them cut the Xperia line back to only Z devices next year. They will announce PS Now coming to the Xperia Z devices, and possibly we may see the rebirth of PS1 and PSP games emulated on those devices.

This is the only chance Sony has to build its mobile image while turning a profit.

There is just no room for a mobile device that can not make phones calls, and run social apps over cellular networks. The 3DS is the last of a dieing breed of devices.

PS3 still definitely has legs in it. It has a large collection of great games, plays blu-rays etc. With a good price drop, they can capture more sales from casual purchasers looking for a new toy to entertain the kids(but don't want to drop $400 for a PS4-X1). The PS3 has been holding a 50-60k baseline for a while without a price drop and any new significant games. I think it still has a good two years in it. The Vita on the other hand... I don't know what went wrong there. They have the library. Killzone, Wipeout, Uncharted, Injustice, MvC3, Minecraft, Gravity Rush, LBP, Metal Gear collection etc.It perplexes me when people say the Vita games are all indies/portswhen the 3DS's main draws are basically ports of old gams(Ocarina of time) or ports of Wii U games(Smash Bros/Mario Kart). Is Pokemon that big of a system seller?

Well OOT is a port. But mario kart and smash are not ports, they are different games in the same series. And saying that those three are the main draw really downplays the the library on the 3ds... People would rather play console games on a big screen comfortably on a couch, as a vita owner I have no need for downgraded ports.

And yes pokemon is that big of a system seller, it can almost singlehandedly prop up a handheld,  just ask Sony.

The same memory cards that had 3rd parties developing them, and weren't exclusive to the PSP?  There were options, and alternative uses for those cards.  Not the case for vita.

Fair call on Mario Kart and Smash being different games of the same series but then Killzone Mercenary and Uncharted GA are also considered different games of the same series rather than ports per se.

IMO most of Sonys IPs just don't have the pull Nintendos do. They lose a bit of spectacle too which is more of a selling point with sonys IPs. Uncharted is about over the top set pieces, preferably viewed on a big screen with surround sound.
