Forums - Gaming - Konami Should make PES Playstation Exclusive

Sony doesn't need to counter anything though.  And if they do, they can offer a PES bundle, rather than going for an exclusive.  Besides, they're already doing phenomenally well in Europe, so they wouldn't need something like that in the first place.  Especially when more than likely PES will sell more on their platforms anyway(main markets for PES is EU and JA, Son'ys typically strongest markets).

I'm not sure limiting your audience would be a 'win' for Konami, and if it would be worth it.

"And SOny get a nice exclusive because PES is better than Fifa."

Well that is just your opinion though.

I could see the bundle thing happening, but really, what's the point?  That FIFA XboxOne bundle exists because MS needs a good foothold in Europe and they have a strong relationship with EA atm trying to gain an upperhand on Sony.  Sony is already at the top, with those multiplat games selling best on PS4 anyway.

the fifa bundle exists because MS payed a lot of money for it plus exclusive advertising. Sony didn't need to do anything because they dominate the EU and ROW where FIfa sells most.

I'm just saying that a PES deal could work out for both and not cost either side. As pointed out the Xbox PES sales are so miserably low that it would be easy for a PS4 PES bundle to morew than make up the lost Xbox sales.

And the thing that will benefit SOny is getting it more sales with a bundle will give PES a much needed chance to get back into the mainstream. Right now it's a better game than Fifa so it's a good exclusive to have.

Well they paid alot of money of course, but thee reason why it existed is bacause of what I stated, that MS saw FIFA as a way of gaining ground in Europe.  And a way for EA to cut some costs and likely some larger deal between MS and EA.

Yeah, I'm still not seeing the point of an exclusive.  A bundle sure, but I still don't see the benefit fo an exclusive deal to Sony, and any benefits to Konami are up in the air, and I don't see them recouping the loss of multiplat with an exclusive deal.  .

"And the thing that will benefit SOny is getting it more sales with a bundle will give PES a much needed chance to get back into the mainstream."

Sony doesn't need that, like at all.  And that 'more sales' thing is a maybe.  PES sells more on Sony platforms, they don't need to seek out deals, when there is a much bigger franchise that wells very well on their platforms already.  Hell, didn't they make like a PS2 FIFA game last year or something?

When it comes to FIFA, Playstation brands are already king, and it's not like FIFA will be abandoning or selling less on Sony's platform in the near future either.  Besides, I'm not too sure EA will be too happy with Sony doing that maybe.

Why would Konami want to lose sales? Why can't they have a bundle and also be on the One? Dozens of games had bundles while being mulitplatform

it's more like does the sales pay the port? Besides PES is becoming more and more japan centric(they lost all the western marketshare for FIFA).

PES runs terrible on the Xbox. They do a lazy job porting it. To me that tells me the tiny xbox sales can't even justify them making the game properly. So they're already not far off the point where dev costs are talking all the games profit. If they scrapped those dev costs for the 2 xbox platforms that would mean SOny wouldn't even need to sell that many bundles for it to be viable. As it stands it's prob not that far off becoming a PS exclusive just because it doesn't sell enough to make a profit on Xbox.

You act like they make something reasonable from releasing on xbox. The sales are dire so they really don't.

It seems like a waste of time to me doing that.

What they should do is keep it on both and try to get co-marketing money from Sony

That would be win-win, and offset the costs of releasing it on xbox one/360

Why would Sony bother? Having PES as an exclusive isn't going to shift many units.

Hence, PES doesn't do well enough on Xbox to make it a desirable exclusive.

But maybe things could change if PES grows in popularity.

#1 how does anyone know the cost of making the Xbox versions of the game versus potential increased revenue from eliminating them?

#2 Why would Sony bother? Most people don't give a shit about PES.

Is PES exclusive in Japan? I remember hearing back a while ago that quite a few third party games in Japan are exclusive to the PS4.

it's not worth it for sony unless they get it exclusive. the game is not that popular anymore.

My point is PES is now better than FIFA so they have a game with potential to grow. PS4 exclusive and bundle can give it that bit of exposure it needs to start growing again. It could become something big with the help of SOny and then that benefits them if it's exclusive.

My whole reasoning is it utterly flops on the Xbox so bad it would hardly make a diff even if they didn't get a deal with Sony.

#1 Obviously people know those figures. Not me, not you, but people who would be in a position to make such a deal.

#2 That's like saying most people don't give a shit about Sunset Overdrive, why did MS bother with that. PES will sell very comparably on PS4 to what SO will sell excluding bundles. My point, as I've point out a lot already is, PES is now better than FIFA and with a PS4 bundle it could jump start the series again to the wider public. PS4 selling like hotcakes so no better platform to do it on. And it's helped by the fact they must make a tiny profit on the X1 anyway so the bundle sales will make up for that. Win for Konami and win for Sony.
