Forums - Sales - I believe Xbox One will win November AND December NPD

how long does microsoft intend to keep the price discount? Is it only for November? Or for the entire holiday season?

January 2nd or 3rd I heard is the supposed end date. But Microsoft may opt to leave it at its current price if it likes the results it sees during the holidays.

X1 will never again be $399, that would be insanely stupid suicide to even try.

$349 is the new default price.

I'm wondering how long the $329 will last though.

Microsoft should have really shipped more, they are missing out and most likely helping Sony a bit.

This line right there is the problem of this thread. Basing everything you are saying on rate of sales isn't very smart.

What if your store had 100 more PS4 consoles than they had XB1s? Unless you are saying that they both had the exact same number of consoles which i strongly doubt. Further more, if both consoles eventually completely exhuasted their stock, doesn't that go right back to meaning that whichever company shipped more sold more?

Anyways, at the start of the month I was pretty certain XB1 will take november but not december. Now for november I think its a "maybe" and for december its a "not a chance"

Stock shouldn't be a problem for December though, they will most likely ship a lot more if they need to. And even if they lose BF I still think they will win Novemeber, but we will see for the results in a few days I guess( BF results).

Agreed. $349 is the new price, Microsoft just doesn't want to say so yet.

As for $329, I thought that was just for black friday. Could be wrong though.

holiday season but to be honest i dont think they will raise the price again.

Thank god, Microsoft has knee deep pockets. Can't imagine any other company willing to take such insane losses (besides Sony with the PS3). Sony will definitely not match the price war this time around, especially with their stronghold in Europe.

You are still looking at stock differently from how you should be looking at it.

Its not about who has stock or doesn't.. its about who had more stock. Thats why I am saying, "rate of sales" is only relevant when both platforms have the exact same number of consoles shipped to stores. But if one platform has considerably more stock than the other, then it doesn't matter who sold out first or second as long as they both sold out eventually during the intended period.

So the question remains, (and this time i would expand on it) what if sony shipped out 1M consoles to stores and MS shipped out 750k? the analysis you are making now only works or is relevant if you can provide us with the number of consoles your store had to begin with.

I can't provide that because by the time I went in Xbox One was sold out while PS4 still had two carts(Xbox one's were I believe in pallet not in carts). The only thing is we won't know for sure who shipped more, many believe it was Sony, but we shall see, also I said November because I believe the three first weeks it outsold it(vgchartz, amazon and other online retailers), and I used BF for December number, proving because there is more demand for Xbox One since many were pre ordering from now for before christmas, while that wasn't the case with PS4, and again I believe there were no pre-ordering for PS4 because there was stock.

I believe the thing that will decide December is if Microsoft can produce more units than PS'4 demand, as I believe Xbox One will sell out in December, and to this I say I believe they will, hence my prediction. but only time will tell.

Unless PS4 absolutely dominates BF, XBO has November NPD locked up. However, I just have a feeling that PS4 will win December. It is possible that XBO wins, but they may run into stock problems.

At the moment the monthly gap is 186K If PS4 does 600K and Xb one does 410K for BF week that's not absolutely dominating but it would give PS4 a narow win. But I would be surprised if PS4 did win BF week by more than 100K. So I expect Xb one will take November.

Amazon and Gamestop online sales charts say otherwise.
They call it Black Friday for a reason. Yesterday was Thursday, it was only a taste of what's to come.
