Forums - Microsoft - Why Is Microsoft Panicking?

I'm pretty sure sony's 6.8 mil lead on microsoft is why.

Since games like Sunset Overdrive and AC Unity have been heavily bundled and essentially free for new XB1 owners who pick up the bundles, it makes sense for M$ to throw the folks who already bought an XB1 a bone by shaving a few bucks off the standard $60 MSRP.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Watchdogs was on sale for $15 dollars a while back for Gold members so Sunset Overdrive is not the first retail game available for $15 on XBL for the X1.

Not far off. See how things go when we build up towards it instead of saying words are completely twisted? Of course the outcome of the mutliple projects lead up to you just means there is no final product, but to me it says failure. Thats pretty much the only difference. Then again I don't associate Microsoft development with new IP's.

What "multiple projects?" Where did he state projects on the interview?

It could be old games that didn't develop to be a franchise like Uncharted.

"We published some games before like it"

"Some" is generally seen as 3 or more since a "couple" means two. He never said several, so yeah, its definitely more than two by association of words.

Sunset Overdrive was a limited bundle along with COD. AC was the only heavy bundle.

Wow, that sounds fucking awesome. I wouldn't mind having an X1 right about now.

I have to say, i would be worried about how the MS stockholders feel about this sales, price cuts and bundles.

But those are good for the consumer and maybe is the way XBOX found to counter the bad publicity it had in 2013. If it gets known for having cheap games, that image could carry on even after those sales stopped.

This could however backfire if Microsoft keeps doing it for too long. If I knew the price of a game I want would drop significantly a mere 2-3 Weeks after launch, I would defenetly wait until then, and I'm probably not the only one. Cue weak or at least underwhelming first week sales because many potential buyers are holding back, awaiting a price drop. And due to the weaker sales, Microsoft could then be forced to do this over and over again, and every time they would do it it would cannibalise first week sales, which are the ones who in most times generate around 80% of a games revenue. In other words, while the games would still sell well, they would only do so anymore at a reduced price and thus generating much less money for the studio/publisher than otherwise possible (which in turn could even lead them to turn theit back on the platform if no way out can be found).

I know, this sounds drastic, but that's the reason why generally prices don't drop before having attained a certain mileage, exept very rare cases when the sales figures are WAY below even the most modest expectations, which shouldn't be the case here.

Because of PS4's early lead. Happened with PS2. When PS4 have bigger install base it will be difficult to get third party exclusives, timed exclusives or exclusive content.

Perhaps its time that Microsoft stops depending so much on third party. Sony learned their lesson about doing that last gen and ended up having the most new IP's.

That's a bullshit response or you read it wrong. Its crucial that MS moves a lot of hardware to encourage support.

Sony was very reliant on 3rd party software to move hardware. They made some good games, but 3rd party moved a bulk of the hardware. In fact, it was crucial for Sony do to price cuts on PS3 to encourage support.

Further more, Sony's PS4 games thus far have been underwhelming. They're showing a huge reliance on 3rd party to help.

You want to know whats really crazy is that the 2 biggest 3rd party games Sony has relied on to keep momentun going.  Interesting how Stage always seem to miss those little points.
