Forums - Nintendo - 3DS prints money and so will Wii U this holiday...

The salt here is big enough to melt the Artic. O_O Nintendo said that all it takes is one game sale to get Wii U profitable. I guess Nintendo magically needs to sell 10,000 games per console now to make money. I guess that the profit they made and will make in the future will all fall from the sky. I need some of that magical Nintendo money to fall on me too. Kekekekekekeke.

You're not being coherent so I don't know if you're trying to say Nintendo is being profitable, or not.

Making gross profit on a product =/= profitable.

- If you sell lemonade for $2 and it costs $1 to make then you make $1 gross profit per lemonade.
If you need to pay $100 rent and you only sold 90 lemonades, then you are not profitable.

"It prints money!" should only be used for things that generate significant profits. 3DS and Wii U do not qualify.

Last I checked, 3DS sales were fairly strong since 2012. It's not "printing money" at, say, 2006 DS levels. But it's making Nintendo plenty of money.

Wii U obviously is not, though it is making them some profit finally. I don't know that Wii U will ever "print money", but I do still think it'll wind up selling better than GC lifetime, eventually.

Why do people honestly still think this? The GameCube is spanking the Wii U and Nintendo has shown they're not willing to take massive losses on the Wii U (so no "save me" price drops). It's not even close either, by the end of 2014, the GameCube will be like a full year's worth of Wii U sales ahead of the Wii U.

It seems to me in this thread everyone wants to redefine what "it prints money" means according to their bias for or against Nintendo. Looking at this from purely the facts its clear that Nintendo isn't printing money at the rate it they did with WiiDS combo. However, that doesn't equal Nintendo isn't "printing money" with 3DSWii U tandem. Come on people its not hard really.

Dont talk to me, you clearly have issues.

Will it, or will it not, that's the question. Of course it will.

It will take some serious foresight for Nintendo to make that level of cash again. I wouldn't bet on it happening anytime soon. Wii Fit and the Balance Board was sold for $90 and that sold millions upon millions. Its as though Nintendo had three consoles generating money last gen. DS, Wii and Wii Fit + balance board.

Most comments have gone off point. The point is they will print money for the holiday

Consider money printed. So many people are also getting the amiibos. They are pre-selling like crazy.

Well I wish I had nintendo net profit in the same period of time....

The Wii Fit balance board is not a console, its prehpiral for the WiiWii U lol. The 7th generation was a golden time for Nintendo and yes they probably won't something like that for a long while if ever, however they still have a lot of that wealth in their bank accounts.  I wish you hadn't gotten banned so you could read this.
