"It prints money!" should only be used for things that generate significant profits. 3DS and Wii U do not qualify.

Nintendo in latest fiscal quarter had  bottom line 230M$ net income profit...

None of their profit was from their operating business (ie. from selling Wii u s, 3ds s, software etc), it was from interest income and the Yen trade

Well people should be comparing it, especially since this Meme was originally created for the DS/Wii, simply profitting does not constitute as printing money.

Also I really wouldn't bet on the bolded.

Edit: That reminds, while I was banned I remember seeing a thread on here saying that Nintendo profited more this last quarter than Sonys game division did, did anyone ever bother to point out that that thread was comparing operating income for Sony with net profit for Nintendo?

If that was the case, that'd make it even better for NIntendo's performance...

Not really, Nintendos operating income was lower than Sonys.

9.255bn Yen for Nintendo versus 21.8bn Yen for Sonys game division.

Of course they did, they sold 5x as much consoles as Nintendo did for the period. But they also have so much more operating losses than nintendo.

Nintendo could post 1B$ profits for Q4...

Could you show me or tell me were I can find any record of Nintendo indicating the Wii U is selling at a profit- you won t find it because it is not true        See Iwatas statement from the 1 st Q  Investor Q and A for accurate data

Nintendo won't post 1B$ at Q4. It will be a good quarter if they post a profit.

The Wii/DS times were the printing money machines. Nintendo had insane benefits at their peak, with a record 2.5billons benefits in one year.

Nothing can topple a Wii being sold at comfortable profit and games like MKWii, NSMB and Wii Fit being sold at 25-35 millions copies.

Didnt they make a profit last quarter? $200mil i think it was around. That was with Hyrule Warriors at the very end, SSB 3ds (note 3.2mil ship figure does count for last quarter), and With MK8 doing ok.

I think (if that $200mil profit is accurate) they definetly can post a good amount. msybe $600mil? maybe more? I dunno :-/

They did make a profit last quarter (operating too) but it was mostly becauase of a favorable yen/currency flucuations, not really huge profits from their actual business. The other thing is I believe all Wii Us were sold at pure profit last quarter because Nintendo already had paid for their manufacture the quarter before (absorbing those losses).

This is also why people got confused and still state "'Wii U is sold at a profit!", because they didn't understand what Iwata was saying in the previous investors report.

That said Nintendo is pretty much gaurunteed to profit in Q3 (Oct-Dec). Nintendo always makes a profit in this quarter even in the last few years where they lost money for the full year overall.

Nintendo lost money (around 100m I believe) in the first quarter.  The key thing for Nintendo will be the sales of 3DS and Wii U this christmas. Too much units sleeping in the warehouses and the profits will go down sharply.

But with Amiibos, Smash and Pokemon, there is a chance that software and hardware sales will rise. I can see Wii U beating its 3.6 millions forecast if Smash does the magic.

From older shipments that are now gone... Shipments/units after those arenot being sold at a loss...

Wii U's that have been produced since Q2 2014 are not being sold at a loss... That is what Iwata stated.

So you can only lie about not being true... They don't have any lossses from newer shipments that have been made after Q1 2014.

That isn't true. Iwata hasn't commented whether or not units are being sold currently at a loss. All he was discussing all along was that they they didn't sell Wii Us at a loss in Q2 because they already paid for their manufacture in Q1 (read: they had so many unsold systems they didn't have to manufacture any new ones for Q2, hence the "manfacturing cost" is entirely abosrbed into the previous quarter).

Too many people read this quote from a hastily translated source and totally misunderstood it.

You are wrong again-   Like I said show me or tell me were Iwata or anyone from Nintendo s corp office states that-  Iwata did not say it as I have already told you were you can find his official quote on the subject -

- Quote tree made my eyes bleed. Carl
