It says: "The company has no confidence in this game, so neither should you"

That should be pretty darn apparent in the game itself and already factored into the score....theres no reason why extra points should be taken off just out of principle

Price shouldnt be a factor either. Some people enjoy shorter, more packed games.

There are certain expectations when it comes to amount of content vs price and when a game doesn't fit these expectations, it is worth telling the consumer. It is an important piece of information that the consumer may not have had otherwise and can often be critical to their purchasing decision. Deducting points because the publisher didn't send out a review copy tells the consumer nothing that isn't readily apparant by the game itself.

It seems that we have come to an agreement that not getting a review copy does not belong in a review, and now the only issue is with scoring and I really don't want to argue this. There are a lot of problems with review scores and I personally believe that they do the nuanced opinion of a (good) critic a disservice and game reviews would be better if they included no scores. GoNintendo's RMC writes some of the best reviews for Nintendo games without a score and they allow me to formulate my own opinion about what his positives and negative mean to me, instead of assigning an arbitrary value to how important everything is. So whether or not you think price should have an impact on scores is pretty much irrelevant to me...

Yeah, I think it should be said in the review that the game may be short or not worth the price to the reviewer, but it shouldnt affect the score of the game itself. Just like publishers making review sites buy the game. Especially big ones like IGN.

The scores from critics probably won't be much better.

However, I have a feeling many of those users haven't played the game much or haven't played it.

I thought the reviews started coming :P

never trust user scores

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I'm currently working on a review of it. This game makes me really sad but not for the reasons you may be thinking.

A lot of these are User 0's, mayby you want to edit the title to 'user scores'

Have you looked at some of the user reviews? I skimmed through the Wii U version and alot of them rated it an 0 out of 10.... Games like Superman 64 and ET aren't 0s so yeah there's no reason at all to ever go by user reviews on Metacritic.

Look at some of the user reviews. Can you really take them serious?

I changed the title of the thread on account of it being ridiculously misleading. User reviews on Metacritic is probably the only thing less interesting than regular reviews on Metacritic.

I'd be surprised if most real reviews were THAT bad. I don't expect it to be great, but considering it has people working on it that previously made games like Jak & Daxter....that would be rather odd if it turned out horrible.

First of all they (sanzaru) only made a spin-off title called "Jak and Daxter: The lost frontier". Second of all, they're only working on the 3DS version.
