Sony and MS target the same demographic.

Microsoft targets the FPS and competitive market. Sony has no genre it focuses on but tends excell at third person.

That's kinda picking hairs, they both want the same exact audience.

Last year Sony had an Assassin's Creed IV bundle for PS4, this year MS has an Assassin's Creed bundle for the XBox. The brands are basically interchangable.

They target virtually the same exact audience.

Sony Santa Monica and Sony Japan are the teams Sony use for co development when  they work with third parties to make new IP's. Demon Souls, The Order, Bloodborne, Flower, Journey and much, much more were made by Sony in tandem with third party.  LBP is exclusive to the PS platforms. Sony's definition of exclusive is different from MS, which is why people are always questioning them.

I know Sony's co-dev teams. I am saying that GGXrd has no documented co-development, its purely Arc Systems Red. There is no co-development of which I am aware.

As for LBP3, the reason its being discounted is because this was a discussion about current gen-only exclusives, which it obviously isn't.

True. Ok...then Mario Kart and Super Smash don't count. ;)

I'm not sure I understand why they don't count? MK8 is most certainly not on anything but WiiU and is from EAD. You'd have a better argument on Smash but they're effectively two different games between the 3DS and WiiU, and that title has never been developed by EAD or any first party (since HAL) directly but they do help develop it, and certainly fund it.

The reason that LBP3 isn't being counted is because it is, literally to a T, the same game with the same content. And GGXrd is still not developed or funded, by Sony.

GG can be excluded, but LBP is in the same boat with Mario kart and and Super Smash. Both platforms have inferior versions of their games on the portables either developed by a secondary or first party team.

What? No. LBP3 is literally the same game between both consoles, same engine, same mechanics, and same exact content.

MK7 (3DS) has little-ado with MK8 (WiiU) aside from Nintendo characters in karts... which are also different. Its different tracks, different items, and, not least of all, entirely different mechanics to the driving. I may as well say that Uncharted is the same game since Uncharted 1 as they have always starred a brave white guy killing foreign people and plundering treasure.

Like I said, you'd have a better case for Smash but even then the single player and, come to it, even the multiplayer options are entirely different.

Makes sense. I opt for smash then. I didnt know the other Mario Kart was completely different. I stand corrected. ;)

They both focus on 13-40 year old males though.

Yes, but Nintendo focuses on 1-100+ year old humans. As you can see, they also target the same audience... partially.

I do believe the WiiU's fortunes would certainly look up if they were to really target that one truly untapped demographic: dead people. That's, what, 108 billion? Real money there.

They all target 1-100 year olds.

Sony/MS just target teens/adult males first and foremost and other demos second.

Nintendo targets kids/the family crowd first and then tries to get older players as a secondary objective.
