God of War collection is offering games which have been bundled up in packs before for the PSvita/ps3 and in total the God of War series of games combined has less than 25m sales over 10+ games, the last game selling just 1.9m in 2013. By contrast Halo as a franchise can topple that figure with just H3+reach combined. Even the hated Halo wars managed to sell 2.4m just on the series name alone.

Good to know that we can finally say that CoD: Ghosts is a better game than Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 combined, Battlefield 4 beats any Metroid and none of the original Sonic games on Genesis can touch Destiny. Because sales are a direct reflection of quality!

I'm just pointing out that the games have been repackaged a few times in the last few years already and no one has really raised too much an eye brow from the most avid Sony fan even, they can repackage it all they want, there is no comparison of the fan love for MCC as there is for a God of War collection, this has been shown repeatedly already.

As for leaping to lack of sales = a lack of quality I disagree with that rather terrible strawman. Quality is one factor in what makes games desireable, if you don't understand how install base and multiple platform releases effect sales then I can't help with that sorry. I should phrase that moreso that I'm unwilling to spend time on such an endeavour not that it would be impossible for me to do so.

I watch regular TV almost every day and I haven't seen any adds for the MCC yet.  The add that advertises Sunset Overdrive bundle I have seen a lot though close to a dozen times.

Ok question, because I can argue both, are you annoyed that Microsoft is advertising this as the greatest thing ever, or that fans are? Or both?

As I have said they SHOULD advertise it.  It's a great value.  I'd buy it if I had an Xbox One in a heartbeat.  HOWEVER I'm tired of fans putting it on a pedestal and poo-pooing every other HD collection or remaster in comparison.  It's undue praise after a certain point.  This is not an unprecedented value.  It's somewhat normal for a collection of older to be priced like this.  It's a great value just like many others.  Also I'm now annoyed that apparently popularity determines value.  Apparently a COD collection should be priced at $100 because it's more popular right?  Ridiculous reasoning.

Nobody is saying that.

Halo MCC is special because it has enormous value for money, more so than any other collection in history.

How is it a better value?  It's 4 games and all of the DLC for $60. You're saying that it's a better value than 5 GOW games for less than $20? The COW collection also has exclusive content and one month of PS+. That's a much better deal...

Hype does not equal value btw.

I'm pretty sure that that one month of PS+ that is included is long expired since this collection has been on the market for quiet a while.  Same thing is true with GT6 the 7 day trial for PS+ that is included expired on March the 31st of this year.  Just checked the release date of the game on Amazon it was first released on August 28, 2012 that is more then a year before GT6 was released so that code that is included expired a long time ago.

It's interesting to note that if we only factor Ghosts in one platform it still outsells Galaxy and BF4 on one platform still outsells Metroid, so the point still is valid either way. Quality is one factor for sales, but advertising is another one. The game industry is simply a reflection of the entire entertainment industry. It's like movies: the ones that get an Academy Awards for Best Movie hardly hadve the biggest budget of the year or the biggest box office numbers.

As the collection, it really never gathered that much interest (despite that, GoW Origins is probably the best selling HD remaster). There is a lot of love for MCC, but it is getting a lot of advertising and people on forums are pretty excited about it and that things are probably what is creating all this fuss about it.

difference is, halo mcc is not a simple fps/res bump.
campaigns have been remastered, new assets produced for campaign, terminals, completely re-done cutscenes from one of the top cutscene studios in the world, halo 2a has 6 completely remastered maps with next-gen visuals, 3 brand new and massive forge canvases (not to even mention the massive improvements and objects/pallets being added to forge) have been produced, new skulls (along with all originals) have been added, has 4.5k worth of achievements, has access to halo 5 beta and the nightfall series, and to tie it all up-> one unified user interface for a seamless experience.

In addition to all of the brand new featuers/assets/new wepons/vehicles, you get all the original campaigns and the mp (exactly the way each one was launched with their respective games).

I'd be all over this if it was for a PS4! Thats what I thought it was going to be when I had a look at the thread. Disappointed.

Ok then, for my agrument. I'm sure other fans of other collections such as GoW or MGS or whatever probably all spoke to high heaven about how great a value their collection is. Probably said the exact same things that Halo fans are saying about MCC. It's just that MCC is both a remastered collection of one of the most popular IP's in gaming, and it actually does have some new to it, in the show and 5 beta. I say that all of these collections are fantastic values, but you hear more about the Halo because Halo's simply more popular. You will not avoid hearing about until after it's released.

18 bucks is a great price ofc.
but maybe u got only 3 out of 5 games.
the other 2 beside the main games, are just downloadable codes and may be already expired. (thats what at least tells one review at amazon.de)

Very strange that a dlc code had expired considering most of the psn+ cards here are dated '18, wonder if it's more likely someone got a used copy sent to them?
